"I am love, I am peace, I am joy, that can never be destroyed" - Rasar Amani, forever.

"In the weeks before he departed this plane of existence for the next, Rasar put his finishing touches on what he dubbed “the work of a lifetime”. This music meant more to him than we will ever understand. It is an honor and a privilege to be the co-creators and custodians of this last, lingering piece of his towering musical legacy. 'Imposter Syndrome' is a story about losing touch with yourself, enduring hardship after hardship, and seeking solace in your relationships - with friends, with family, with yourself - on the road to finding peace. It was borne out of loneliness, frustration, and despair brought on by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, ongoing racial injustices, and all of our other collective anxieties and heartbreaks. We haven’t written in our journals, so we wrote these songs. The music was written and produced in a single bedroom. The vocals were written and recorded in isolation. And it’s the best music we’ve ever made. We’d be lying if we told you these are easy songs to listen to. Long before his passing, the weight of his words and the raw emotionality of his performances on this project devastated us over and over again. We’ve shed tears over this project all year - more now than ever before. But he wanted you to hear this music. We all do. This album is dedicated to our fans, who continue to spread our message to this day. This album is dedicated to our moms, who provide us with guidance, wisdom, hard truths and unconditional love. But for the gifts he gave us, the trust he bestowed upon us, and the lifetime of beautiful memories he shared with us, this album is dedicated first and foremost to Rasar Amani. For the final time. Remembering Rasar Amani, founder of The Lique. Amani was the band's heart and soul; the funky hip-hop/jazz band’s history is deeply rooted in Las Vegas, by way of Rasar’s Sacramento hometown. We celebrate the music he's left us, as we mourn the passing of an artist far too young. bit.ly www.thelique.com thelique.bandcamp.com Live in-studio performance of "I Am": youtu.be
