It was borne out of loneliness, frustration, and despair brought on by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, ongoing racial injustices, and all of our other collective anxieties and heartbreaks. We haven’t written in our journals, so we wrote these songs. The music was written and produced in a single bedroom. The vocals were written and recorded in isolation. And it’s the best music we’ve ever made. We’d be lying if we told you these are easy songs to listen to. Long before his passing, the weight of his words and the raw emotionality of his performances on this project devastated us over and over again.
