*REQUEST* I'm in the kitchen, listening, making a lemon pie for my son's 18th birthday thinking how did we get here? and feeling grateful for this wonderful life. Will you play This Must be The Place by Talking Heads. Happy Birthday Jack, we love you. - Kristin ----- "It's a very comforting song," Chris Frantz said. "I think people listen to it and it kind of warms their hearts because it's a song with a happy and secure message. I love that song myself. It's really sweet - quite an accomplishment for a band such as ours." That's how I feel about KEXP! I hope you do too.

This is a song he heard most certainly in the womb as we played it frequently for him : Talking Heads - This must be the place (naive melody) Appropriately he was born breach (feet on the ground, head in the clouds) and we found out we would do a C-section because of it two years ago today. Going out to Adam, Happy Birthdat "We had a big earthquake here (NYC) this morning. For that 15-20 seconds of being in a shaking building, I was as present as one could get. I’m thankful that nobody seems to have been injured and that all is well. But I would love to hear one of my all time favorite songs: this must be the place by the talking heads. A song that reminds me of my city, being present and being thankful!" Stay present y'all!

"Hi! I would like to request Kishi Bashi’s version of ‘This Must Be The Place’ from his 7’ Singles collection, if you have it. Today, my partner Margaret and I are eloping, and this song and artist are pretty important to us. I became an amplifier 12 years ago, shortly after moving to Seattle. I was pulling into town after a 7 day drive across the country scanning the radio for local stations with good music. I can’t remember what Cheryl was playing, but it was a long stretch of perfect songs (as she usually does) and I was hooked. I’ve love this station ever since. Your amazing collection of DJs have opened my ears to so much and I can never thank you enough. Thanks you all for what you do. Here is to another year of joy in the form of music. Best, Scott" Thank you Scott!

#3 on the Countdown of KEXP Listeners Favorite Songs of the Last 50 Years! -- I love feeling like a part of the Community that KEXP has created. The exposure to new and undiscovered music has been such a joy in my life. There have even been times where I got frustrated with a certain genre or artist that was being played by a KEXP DJ, only to find out at a later time that the exposure to that genre or artist challenged my conventions and made me a better person for it. A perfect example is International Goth Day; it turns out that I love Goth Music!!! Thank you for getting me to question what my perceptions are, and to make me comfortable with being uncomfortable. --Keith in Queen Anne, Seattle -- Recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, the music for this song came out of a jam session where the band switched instruments. For Chelsea, Dave, and Mavis! In the "Self Interview" on the DVD of the concert film Stop Making Sense, David Byrne states that this is a love song, a topic he tends to avoid because it is "kinda big": 'That's a love song made up almost completely of non sequiturs, phrases that may have a strong emotional resonance but don't have any narrative qualities. It's a real honest kind of love song.'

It's a real honest kind of love song. I don't think I've ever done a real love song before. Mine always had a sort of reservation, or a twist. I tried to write one that wasn't corny, that didn't sound stupid or lame the way many do. I think I succeeded; I was pretty happy with that.
