"I wrote John Carver in a night. After recorded all the songs on the CD (Sweetgrass and Honey), there was room for one more. The musicians created the music and I took it away and I wrote the song as an ode to my father who is a master carver that passed away last year. I wrote it 6 months before he passed so he was able to hear it." Skeena Reece is of Tsimshian, Gitksan, Cree, and Metis descent whose multi-disciplinary practices include performance art, sacred clowning, songwriting, and video art.
