7:10 AMWe remember Bill Rieflin, Nine Inch Nails' drummer, whose birthday would’ve been last weekend. In tracks like "Down in It" from Pretty Hate Machine, you can feel the raw pulse of early NIN, a synth-heavy, industrial sound that’s gritty yet hypnotic. Rieflin's contributions to the band's rhythmic core left an indelible mark on their live shows, and though he wasn’t on this record, his later work with the band added layers of depth to the chaotic, driving energy that defines their sound. Today, we honor his legacy and the impact he had on shaping industrial music. www.rollingstone.com - Aug 3, 2024

12:23 PM#117 - Many of you voted for the debut album by NIИ. Working nights at Right Track Studio as a handyman and toilet cleaner, Trent Reznor used studio "down time" to record and develop his own music.Trent sent his demo out to many record labels, then was picked up by TVT Records.
"Down In It" was the first Nine Inch Nails music video. It was directed by Eric Zimmerman and Benjamin Stokes, who also directed "Head Like A Hole."
