Lowe Cellar’s first full length album is an experience of revelation. On its own terms it wanders through the experience of ‘Self’ and ‘Other’, the dissolution of meaning and the shroud of mystery and confusion manufactured and disseminated by the spectacle of modern media. Each song takes a different stylistic approach to the experience of a central character in a loose narrative self discovery. Even in the first songs of the album, influences are heard from mewithoutYou and Balance and Composure to Jason Molina and Smog. Though not entirely optimistic by any stretch, the music finds a reason for hope in the connections that are formed between people in a strange time and a strange world.
