15:52 PMMy mom died of a stroke in 2018. The funeral and preparation were emotionally taxing on the family as they usually are. At some point in the funeral planning process my dad played “Spanish Flea” by Herb Alpert. It is one of the most ridiculous songs that absolutely did not match the mood of the room. Dad said that was always Mom’s favorite song. Within 30 seconds we had a house full of grandkids, siblings and extended family dancing and laughing like idiots. Jason Julius Wechter was a percussionist in Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, most notably on marimba. "Spanish Flea" was one of several songs he wrote for the group.
