9:42 AM"Good morning John and crew, I was wondering if you could fit in Beirut's Nantes. The last 6 months have been so weird. In some ways it's been a real downer to not go on the family camping trips that were planned or to big family gatherings. On the other hand, working from home has given me the opportunity to spend so much more time with my wife and son. I also discovered KEXP shortly after the pandemic started. I get excited about turning on the Morning Show each workday. I've discovered a lot of new music that has been released since I've been busy adulting. Thank you for that. Aaron in Sacramento" - Mar 12, 2019

6:46 AMFrom Beirut frontman Zach Condon about the inspiration for 'The Flying Club Cup': "Back in the early 1900s...there used to be this hot air balloon festival in Paris—[the album's] titled after that and after this very bizarre 1910 photo I found [by Léon Gimpel]. It's one of the first color photos ever made, at the World's Fair, and it...shows all these ancient hot air balloons about to take off in the middle of Paris. I just thought it was the most surreal image I'd seen in a long time." - Sep 26, 2017

6:10 AMBeirut's Zach Condon on the band's name: “One of the reasons I named the band after that city was the fact that it’s seen a lot of conflict. It’s not a political position. I worried about that from the beginning. But it was such a catchy name. I mean, if things go down that are truly horrible, I’ll change it. But not now. It’s still a good analogy for my music. I haven’t been to Beirut, but I imagine it as this chic urban city surrounded by the ancient Christian and Muslim worlds. The place where things collide” - Mar 14, 2017
