In an interview addressing fallout from Elbow's traditional fanbase and those who favored the arena anthems of The Seldom Seen Kid, frontman Guy Garvey noted "...when heartbreaking melancholia is your currency, success and contentment can be a problem." The group's frontman admitted that due to being "too happy" he had to "look elsewhere for lyrics." "I can't sincerely write about where I'm at because I'm doing OK. It wouldn't work."

"The Family Stone itself never thought very highly of Dance to the Music while they were recording it; its existence was the result of CBS executive Clive Davis' request for Sly Stone to make his sound more pop friendly...The formula not only worked in selling records, but influenced the entire music industry. When "Dance to the Music" became a Top 10 pop hit, R&B/soul producers and labels immediately began appropriating the new "psychedelic soul" sound. By the end of 1968, The Temptations had gone psychedelic, and The Impressions and Four Tops would join them within the space of two years." en.wikipedia.org
The first single from the band's seventh album was hailed as their comeback single. Pitchfork Media called the song as "possibly one of New Order's best singles". Released in 1976, "Songs in the Key of Life" is Stevie Wonder's eighteenth album. It was released as double LP with a four song bonus EP and became the best-selling and most critically acclaimed album of Wonder's career. In 2003, it was ranked number 57 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In 2005, it was inducted into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress, which deemed it "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
Discussing the album, Arcade Fire noted that it was inspired by band members Win and William Butler's upbringing in The Woodlands, Texas, a suburb of Houston. According to Win Butler, the album "is neither a love letter to, nor an indictment of, the suburbs – it's a letter from the suburbs". It won Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards, Best International Album at the 2011 BRIT Awards, Album of the Year at the 2011 Juno Awards, and the 2011 Polaris Music Prize for best Canadian album. bit.ly

Sylvan Esso have teamed up with tourmates Collections of Colonies of Bees to record a cover of experimental folk-rock band Califone’s “Funeral Singers,” the quasi-title track off of 2009’s All My Friends Are Funeral Singers...The two touring bands began covering the song while on tour and felt they needed to record the cover for posterity and chose Wilco’s Chicago studio The Loft for recording. “The distance between Sylvan Esso’s crisp electro-pop and Califone’s dark, shambling indie-folk is shorter and more direct than it might seem,” says writer Josh Modell in the bio for the single." "It’s been 10 years since L.A.’s Army Navy jangled their way into the hearts of guitar-pop fans, riding the sunbeams of artists such as Big Star, Teenage Fanclub and the Posies along the way. Their single “Her Makeup” (which came out Nov 2) was their first release since 2014’s third full-length “The Wilderness Inside” — a milestone marker and a signal that their hiatus is over. It’s not a “new” song but a “lost” one." buzzbands.la
