"Seattle sister act Asya (age 14) and Chloe (age 12) keep the innocence and sweetness in indie rock, and thank goodness for that. Performing under the Smoosh moniker since 2002, the duo's 2004 debut album, She Like Electric, introduced a smart, enthusiastic, and imaginative pop sound from the tween duo. Their second album, Free To Stay, stays true to that high-spirited approach while the double-attack of Chloe's drums and Asya's keyboards make for a brighter, sugarcoated pop sound. Smoosh runs through a barrel of emotions well suited for any age, and they also remind us that rocknroll is a helluva lot of fun." www.barsuk.com Smoosh started "when Chloe's drum teacher, Jason McGerr, the drummer of Death Cab for Cutie, suggested that she start playing along with others, the better to understand the role of the instrument in a rock band. Her sister just happened to have some songs and energy. Years later their demo got around and was played on the radio station KEXP. Soon they were signed to [Dave Einmo's] record label Pattern 25." portable-infinite.blogspot.com

Radiohead cover Live from Home in March 2020 by DCFC's frontman Ben Gibbard! "Like many other artists eager to still engage with fans, the singer has been live streaming shows from his home. His first broadcast on Tuesday night (March 17) featured a lot of performances of Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service tracks. Most notably, he delved into an anecdote about a serene trip he took around Washington state, during which he and his wife Rachel listened to a lot of music. One of the songs they heard was Radiohead‘s “Fake Plastic Trees,” and he ended up covering the tune on live stream." www.billboard.com www.youtube.com

And back to Radiohead! But of course! Mais bien sûr! Lead singer Thom Yorke said this song was "a competition by me and Jonny Greenwood to get as many chords as possible into a song." Despite its range of guitar sounds, this was recorded live in the studio with no overdubs.

“The Clock” talks about time running out for humanity and its problems. Thom Yorke called this the most explicit song about environmental concerns. In a TV interview he elaborated: That [song] was born out the anger of watching the heads of state around the globe saying “yes we really must do something about this.”

"There's only one cover on British soul singer Lianne La Havas‘ fourth album, but it kickstarted the entire recording process. On her self-titled album, the singer, whose blend of breathy coos and emotive belts makes her equally at home in a jazz club or rock venue, takes on Radiohead‘s 2007 song 'Weird Fishes' from In Rainbows." www.rollingstone.com

Radiohead's Ed O'Brien wrote this opener to his debut solo album about four days after coming back from Glastonbury in 2014. He told NME the song is about happiness and finding peace: "Shangri-La at 4 a.m. with your people is a glorious place to be. You feel so happy and at peace at Glastonbury, so the song was about that as well as the journey of trying to find peace of mind in your own life and coming together to celebrate that." In 2011, O'Brien and his family moved to Brazil and lived for a year on a farm. During their time there, they visited Rio's famous carnival, an experience that inspired Earth. O'Brien told The Sun: "Glastonbury is like our carnival, our therapist. It's a place where I will always feel incredibly happy, even when it's muddy." bit.ly "Radiohead fans were really lovely – they said: "Ed, what kind of record are you making?" And I was like, "I'm making an existential dance record." Check out a KEXP exclusive conversation Kevin had with the Radiohead guitarist about his debut solo release here: bit.ly

"Take note of the title. This is McCartney III Imagined, not "re-imagined." The difference may be slight, but the implication is clear: this collection of remixes, covers, and interpolations from Paul McCartney's 2020 album McCartney III by a variety of guest stars isn't a revision of the original, but rather an album that exists on its own parallel plane." www.allmusic.com
