You say to yourself, ‘Well, how long are we gonna keep living with that?’ It was very, very simple and very easy to write that song, because it was a question I thought a lot about. How long can we keep holding on to the same thing that we’re repeating over and over again?”

J Mascis has announced a new solo album, What Do We Do Now, which will be out in February. The Dinosaur Jr. member recorded it at his Bisquiteen studio in Western Massachusetts, and he recruited Ken Mauri (keyboardist for the B-52’s) and Matthew “Doc” Dunn (Ontario musician) to play on it with him.

Fontaines D.C.'s frontman Grian Chatten says about this song, "Love’s a double-edged sword, you know? I think the song was influenced by addiction, which is something that runs in a lot of families. Not just mine, but a lot of families. It’s the sort of duality of things to both comfort you, provide you with warmth and encouragement and safety, and at the same time while doing that, rob all the change from your back pocket, you know what I mean? That’s kind of what I was interested in.
There’s got to be tension in order for it to be an interesting thing to write about. I’m not interested in writing a straight-up love song. I mean, I am, I just think it would be really hard because I don’t know how to write without that kind of duality or that tension or a duplicity almost. There’s no hope without tragedy and all that."

This is the Soulwax remix of the 2007 song that features the former Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder. The main vocalist is Noodle (in reality the vocals are provided by backup singer Rosie Wilson).
The song was originally going to be called "It's There," but it was altered because Shaun Ryder's broad Mancunian accent made it sound like he was saying "It's Dare."
