You might be asking, where is the world’s biggest paving slab? Well, it’s located right outside Colne Town Hall in Lancashire and it is noticeably bigger than your average paving stone. "I am the world’s biggest paving slab But I sit here quietly No one ever looks down at the ground Yeah, no one ever notices me..."The stone measures a whopping 10ft by 9ft, that’s 3m by 2.7m if you’re strictly metric. -- Here's the official video for this song about the juxtaposition of small town life and city living: www.youtube.com

Seattle artist Brittany Davis’ 26-track, concept-driven debut album, "Image Issues," will be released March 1st on Stone Gossard’s Loosegroove Records label and is led by the supremely funky single “Sepricon.” -- “‘Sepricon’ was definitely born to funk … to soul funk! “'Echolalia' is defined as an involuntary repetition of words or sounds, and this motif is carried throughout the song by Tumor’s singing, which stalls out wistfully, even orgasmically, on single syllables until they’re stretched out into an undeniable hook." : pitchfork.com -- Cheryl selected this as a KEXP Song of the Day. Fantastic Negrito: “This song was really about these policemen who are just arbitrarily executing citizens. You say to yourself, ‘Well, how long are we gonna keep living with that?’ It was very, very simple and very easy to write that song, because it was a question I thought a lot about. How long can we keep holding on to the same thing that we’re repeating over and over again?” -- The enormously talented Fantastic Negrito was KEXP's guest on Live at Home in 2020. Among other songs, he performed "How Long?": www.youtube.com

Speaking to the BBC about the song, singer Yannis Philippakis, said: "It is one of the most savage and animalistic songs we've ever done. When we play it in a room, it just feels predatory, it feels like we're on a hunt or something." "[Producer] James Ford really pushed me to get into a place with the vocal texture where it was just like berserk." Philippakis added: "Ford really pushed us and we couldn't be happier." -- See the official (and disturbing) video for this song: www.youtube.com

The Seattle-based trio—Peter Richards on guitar and vocals, Claire England on bass and vocals, and Andrew Hall on drums—announced itself in 2017 with an album that couches its themes of anxiety and eroding mental health in rock tracks that amp up the sweetly melodic crunch of powerpop with massive distortion and bashed-to-heck drums. dudeyork.bandcamp.com --- The video has them playing along to the song on what looks like the set of a low-budget public access show.: www.youtube.com --

Fontaines D.C.'s frontman Grian Chatten says about this song, "Love’s a double-edged sword, you know? I think the song was influenced by addiction, which is something that runs in a lot of families. Not just mine, but a lot of families. It’s the sort of duality of things to both comfort you, provide you with warmth and encouragement and safety, and at the same time while doing that, rob all the change from your back pocket, you know what I mean? That’s kind of what I was interested in. There’s got to be tension in order for it to be an interesting thing to write about. I’m not interested in writing a straight-up love song. I mean, I am, I just think it would be really hard because I don’t know how to write without that kind of duality or that tension or a duplicity almost. There’s no hope without tragedy and all that."

This is the Soulwax remix of the 2007 song that features the former Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder. The main vocalist is Noodle (in reality the vocals are provided by backup singer Rosie Wilson).
