Hi John! Started the morning with that wonderful pre-panic attack throat tightening feeling (and unprompted, no less!), so taking it slow to ease through it. The music is helping, as always. Your show is helping. Music truly does heal, as you always say. Our trip to come visit is coming up fast, which is also helping to have something to look forward to. Might be too late to request anything, but some Quivers if it fits. Just needed to drop in and thank you for the show today and for the constant You Are Not Alones. You’re the best, -Megh The band performed this during a lovely set Live in the KEXP Studio in 2019 - youtu.be

Blondshell will be performing at Madame Lou's on July 8th! bit.ly Blondshell is the new moniker of NYC-born, LA-based artist Sabrina Teitelbaum, who used to make alt-pop as BAUM. She's shared her first single with the name, the painful, potent "Olympus," which she told Nylon is "about the experience of falling in love with someone and knowing that it wasn’t going to work out while still being in love." "When I showed the demo to the producer I ended up working with [Yves Rothman], he was like, 'Okay, do you have any more songs like this?' Because I think it’s what he had been waiting to hear from me." bit.ly

Mitski recorded Laurel Hell with her longtime producer Patrick Hyland throughout the isolation of a global pandemic, during which some of the songs “slowly took on new forms and meanings, like seed to flower.” Sometimes it’s hard to see the change when you’re the agent of it, but for the lucky rest of us, Mitski has written a soundtrack for transformation, a map to the place where vulnerability and resilience, sorrow and delight, error and transcendence can all sit within our humanity, can all be seen as worthy of acknowledgment, and ultimately, love. The supergroup featuring the Max Levine Ensemble’s David “Spoonboy” Combs, Katie Park of Hemlines, Daoud Tyler-Ameen of Art Sorority for Girls and Emma Cleveland of Bad Moves released "Cool Generator" in 2018. Half the band have volunteered at rock music youth coaching programs. Combs volunteered for a few summers at Queer Rock Camp in Olympia, Washington, and Park has been a band coach and worked with Girls Rock! DC. The band has a lot to say about the lyrical content of this song: "We’ve often introduced this song as being about how the art and fashion produced by marginalized people, people of color and queer people specifically, are the source material most often appropriated by the mainstream entertainment industry. And yet, those communities themselves are the most likely to be at risk — of poverty, police violence, mental illness, et cetera." bit.ly --

Young wrote this in response to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama," in which Young is told, "Southern man don't need him around anyhow." "Walk On" wasn't so much directed at the guys from Skynyrd (their feud was more good-natured than most people realize), but more towards the few southerners who felt some animosity towards Young for calling them on their inability to comply with the changing standards during the civil rights era. The Mermen originated in San Francisco in 1989. They have since moved to Santa Cruz, California. The group's sound was originally rooted in surf and psychedelic rock music of the 1960s, although they have made "sincere attempts to get away from the surf music label" and currently delve into many genres, mainly driven by the melodic visions of the band's founder, songwriter, and guitarist Jim Thomas.

According to interviews, the inspiration of the song came when a fire broke loose in Robert Smith's home. After that day, Smith was going through the remains and came across his wallet which had pictures of his wife, Mary. The cover of the single is one of the pictures. The same picture was used as the cover of the "Charlotte Sometimes" single, but that image was heavily warped and distorted. M83's newest full-length album, FANTASY is out now! For Anthony Gonzalez, Fantasy‘s direction and aesthetic was immediately clear. “I wanted this record to be very impactful live,” he says. “The idea was to come back with something closer to the energy of Before The Dawn Heals Us. The combination of guitars and synths is always in my music, but it’s maybe more present on this new record than on the previous ones.” Reserved in nature, Gonzalez also sought to continue a trend that has become more prominent in his recent albums. “I wanted to be more present lyrically and vocally even if that was daunting at first,” he states. “I thought if I could achieve that, this album will be more personal than those that came before.” ilovem83.com

Sells' love of disco, post-punk, funk (in its smooth and rugged forms), electro, and Afrobeat all surface on Select Level.
