The song was written in a less positive environment than its warm synths would suggest. Geowulf's Star Kendrick explains: “I was frustrated with maybe a lack of self-control and an inability to break patterns in my life… In a few areas. This song is my way to poking holes in how I handled that. The rest of the album follows a similar, emotional narrative, and is all about exploring those old things & how I’ve tried to leave them behind.” They'll be playing at Barboza November 15th. geowulf.bandcamp.com

An enormous but welcome departure from her shoegazey 2012 album, Tender New Signs, the new LP is Tamaryn at her best yet, and is "the album [she] always wanted to make." A swoon-worthy exploration of emotive dream pop, sample-heavy and psychedelic, Cranekiss brings forth a fresh, unapologetic take on pure experimental music. According to Tamaryn herself, "nothing is off-limits." Read (and watch!) more over at the KEXP blog: www.kexp.org

A lot of people already know I'm heavily influenced by Lauryn Hill, MC Lyte, and Queen Latifah," she said in an interview recently. "It's just not all or nothing for me. In a recent interview, Ibibio Sound Machine's Eno Williams told IndyWeek Magazine that the new album built on the theme of women's liberation and representation explored in their first album "Uyai". "The overall theme is truth-seeking. It’s about asking questions and seeking answers. From listeners’ point-of-view, it’s about telling me what you’re feeling, telling me what you’d like to hear, or just telling me what you want me to do. But it’s still about women’s liberation and giving women the chance to be heard." Read more at indyweek.com
