James Murphy explained the song to NME in 2010, saying, "I wanted to make something with a happy ending. I wanted it to be about being in a band and how much I like it. (Although) I don't like leaving my life. You leave your home, your friends, your dog. It was always supposed to be a non-professional experiment. I think it is still a non-professional experiment, but it's a non-professional experiment that takes up a much bigger part of my life than I expected." bit.ly LCD Soundsystem plays the This Ain't No Picnic festival in Pasadena, CA on August 27-28, 2022. bit.ly

Nabihah Iqbal is coming to Barboza June 4th!! First LP in five years from London-born artist Nabihah Iqbal - “For the first time ever, I’ve made music where I’ve been more patient with it,” she says. “Normally, when you’re an electronic music producer, you go into the studio, switch your computer on and start working on Ableton or Logic and then build up from that. Whereas, I decided not to go near all that for ages, and I was also forced into this approach in a way, because of the studio burglary and then being in Pakistan, away from all my equipment. Instead, I had to let the ideas develop in my head" - nabihahiqbal.bandcamp.com

Low was created after Sparhawk's previous project Zen Identity. He asked Mimi Parker to play drums alongside bassist John Nichols, and thus the trio formed in 1993. Broadcast toured with Low in the summer of 2000. Broadcast formed in Birmingham in 1995. The Birmingham band Broadcast’s debut album ‘Noise Made By People’ was widely lauded by the music press, earning them an instant cult following. This track from ATCQ's debut LP samples "Inner City Blues," by Reuben Wilson (from his 1974 album "The Sweet Life") 'The lyrics are 25 years old. But were they released today they'd seem right on time, while being out of place—because all these many years later People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm is more than a nostalgia artifact. It's a worthy listen, not because of what it was, but because of what it is.' -- read more of kris ex's Perfect 10 retrospective: tinyurl.com

Arlo Parks recorded this new song with Adele/Florence and the Machine producer Paul Epworth. Arlo Parks said, "Paul is just a wizard; he has this childlike spirit that I’ve always really loved and he brought that to 'Blades.' I wanted to make something that I can dance to, finally, because I feel like my songs don’t really have that quality in general. So, I took inspiration from bands like ESG, artists like Kaytranada, and a lot of the kind of ’70s Zambian psychedelic rock that I love."

Jason Corbett of ACTORS shares, "Being such a big fan of Odonis Odonis, I jumped at the chance to contribute vocals to this song. I love working with artists I admire. Listening to the music really set the scene for what came out lyrically. I was responding to the emotional content of what I was hearing. The rest just unfolded in the vocal." The Torontonian post-punk duo describe ICON as a "calling card," and it perfectly encapsulates the new iteration of Odonis Odonis. Following their 2021 album Spectrums, they started working on this collection of five songs, writing them geared towards some of their favorite veteran and up-and-coming artists. "We wanted to bring out what we admire in them and prove that we can do a variety of styles," explains Denholm Whale, who splits band duties with Constantin Tzenos. tinyurl.com
