"A Girl Like You," which is an Iggy Pop tribute, was Edwyn Collins' biggest solo hit. It was reported that Pop intended to record his own rendition of “A Girl Like You” but opted not to due to Collins’ own version blowing up. -- The song samples the drum track of Len Barry's single "1-2-3" (1965), and features The Sex Pistols' drummer Paul Cook on vibraphone.

Bass player Tina Weymouth ended up on rhythm guitar, keyboard player Jerry Harrison played keyboard bass, and David Byrne manned the Prophet-5 synthesizer. "Hi Evie - today's my Dad's birthday. He passed away almost 10 years ago, and one of his favorite songs was Mississippi Queen by Mountain. Would love it if you found a spot for it today. Thanks so much from Rob in Lubbock, TX!" Mountain is probably best known for this song, which was also a hit for Ozzy Osbourne in 2005 with original guitarist Leslie West. "According to drummer Corky Laing, he had developed some of the lyrics and the drum part prior to his joining the band. Later, when guitarist Leslie West was looking for lyrics for a guitar part he had written, Laing pulled out 'The Queen' and the two worked out the song together; bassist/producer Felix Pappalardi and lyricist David Rea also received songwriting credits. When the group proceeded to record 'Mississippi Queen,' Pappalardi insisted on numerous takes. Growing weary, Laing started using the cowbell to count off the song. Pappalardi liked it so much he left it in the mix, creating the instantly recognizable intro to the song." bit.ly
