Covering Betty Hutton's 1951 song -- in turn, covering Horst Winter's 1948 "Und jetzt ist es still" Björk (Record Collector, August 2002 taken from Björk.com): "It was sort of a joke really. It was a song Guy Sigsworth used to play on the bus when we were touring. Ever since, I almost regret doing it because I wanted to put so much importance on making new music. So many people are doing old music and you've even got new bands doing old music. If I put something out in this world, it would be the courage to go ahead and invent things, so it's ironic 'It's Oh So Quiet' became my biggest song. The best bit was the video." -- youtu.be

Covering 1995's "Army of Me" from Björk’s legendary "Post" album Julia Jacklin teamed up with fellow Australian band RVG for this haunting, shoegazey cover: youtu.be "I just love Björk and I love RVG. I was running on a treadmill which I don’t do very often and I was listening to “Army of Me” over and over again to make me feel stronger than I am. Then I thought why not try and cover this song with another artist that makes me feel stronger than I am and I did! Was a good musical punch in the face to wake me up from a year of living a very small quiet life. RVG are one of my favourite bands in the whole world and it was just a real blessing to spend some time with them making music." Bandcamp Friday! juliajacklin.bandcamp.com

Covering the 1989 Pixies song from "Doolittle"! Nation of Language vocalist Ian Devaney said: “When Aidan suggested ‘Gouge Away’ I was immediately struck by how badly I wanted to rework it in our style, and the whole song mapped itself out in my head right away. I didn’t let myself listen to the original from then until it was fully recorded so I might forget certain details about it, leaving only my impression of its foundational elements – the way the quiet, unsettling verses give way to the savage choruses, the way the big transitional guitar line overwhelms you every time it happens.”
