Mike Doughty (Soul Coughing) and longtime collaborator Andrew “Scrap” Livingston’s put together a new project, Ghost of Vroom, after Doughty's 2016 solo album -- and after scrapping plans to reunite Soul Coughing.
The band's name is a reference to a once-planned companion piece to Soul Coughing's 1994 "Ruby Vroom".

Edwin Butler III (born April 14, 1980) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician, best known as the frontman of Arcade Fire. Butler’s wife Regine Chassagne and brother Will are both also members of this band.
Butler was born in California and raised in Texas in a Mormon family. His grandfather was jazz steel guitarist Alvino Rey, and his grandmother was a member of The King Sisters, who performed on ABC’s The King Family Show.

Chaz Bear, aka Toro y Moi, has announced his forthcoming seventh studio album, with ‘Mahal’ set to arrive on April 29 via Dead Oceans.
The follow-up to 2019’s ‘Outer Peace’ was largely completed in Bear’s studio in Oakland last year, and features contributions from Unknown Mortal Orchestra‘s Ruban Neilson, Neon Indian’s Alan Palomo, Sofie Royer and the Mattson 2.
“I wanted to make a record that featured more musicians on it than any other record of mine,” Bear explained in a statement. “To have them live on that record feels grounded, bringing a communal perspective to the table.”

I started writing it when I was home between tours in 2019 before finishing it with Joe Agius and Dan Nigro the next year. I was feeling guilty and ungrateful for not being happy about a few different things in my life that were technically going well. I had to work through some tough learned thought processes and emotions that had been working away for years to try to understand how to be happy with my present, and stop fixating on my past and future.'
