Proceeds from Amber Mark's cover of Eddie Kendricks’ “My People…Hold On” will go to organizations supporting the development of Black agricultural land ownership. Mark said in a statement, “It’s so amazing to see the world learning, growing and most importantly helping one another. We cannot let go of this feeling or this moment. We should use this positive mentality as the everlasting force driving humankind as a whole to greatness not just for the future of yourself but for the future of everyone around you.” bit.ly

"The vocal sample is from this YouTube video of these girls walking down a hotel hallway to the pool and their instructor is leading them in this chant, it’s like a 10 second clip. I was like, oh, my God — that's the catchiest hook I've ever heard. I need to put a beat to this, and I had this old funk sample I've always wanted to use, but it just didn't feel finished without vocals." New music out of Mexico City - this track is named for the Afro-Carribean goddess Yemaya. Guest vocalist Gaby Moreno recently told the Recording Academy about the song, "She's a powerful woman of color taking all forms. It's a universal theme and we wanted to incorporate this mysterious and mystic figure into the song, since it's part of the folklore of many different cultures."

Michael J. Moore from NPR wrote about this one, "SAULT's latest and best album, is a capital-B Black record that funnels rage and sorrow into contemplative streams of thought, over equally brooding music meant to slow your heart rate." saultglobal.bandcamp.com

"Making a Door Less Open" is Car Seat Headrest's first album in four years following the release of 2016's "Teens of Denial." The band recorded two versions of "Making a Door Less Open" -- one with their typical rock setup and one using only synthesizers, then combined the two versions.

"I’m super excited to announce this release. It’s a cover of a song by a fellow Afro-Filipino, Joe Bataan. His music first caught my ear back in 2009 when Ryan Kattner of Man Man played it for me. I was immediately hooked by Joe’s music because, to me, he represented the impossible--he felt so comfortable in his skin and he had so much confidence and appeal." In a rare interview in 2010, Detroit's Moodymann said about the music he's into: “Well, I prefer to like pretty good music. There is good and there’s real good. Just like any artwork, there is some music you want to hang around and some music you don’t want to hang around.” Hang around with his new one here: moodymann.bandcamp.com
