"The vocal sample is from this YouTube video of these girls walking down a hotel hallway to the pool and their instructor is leading them in this chant, it’s like a 10 second clip. I was like, oh, my God — that's the catchiest hook I've ever heard. I need to put a beat to this, and I had this old funk sample I've always wanted to use, but it just didn't feel finished without vocals."

New music out of Mexico City - this track is named for the Afro-Carribean goddess Yemaya. Guest vocalist Gaby Moreno recently told the Recording Academy about the song, "She's a powerful woman of color taking all forms. It's a universal theme and we wanted to incorporate this mysterious and mystic figure into the song, since it's part of the folklore of many different cultures."

"Making a Door Less Open" is Car Seat Headrest's first album in four years following the release of 2016's "Teens of Denial." The band recorded two versions of "Making a Door Less Open" -- one with their typical rock setup and one using only synthesizers, then combined the two versions.
"I’m super excited to announce this release. It’s a cover of a song by a fellow Afro-Filipino, Joe Bataan. His music first caught my ear back in 2009 when Ryan Kattner of Man Man played it for me. I was immediately hooked by Joe’s music because, to me, he represented the impossible--he felt so comfortable in his skin and he had so much confidence and appeal."
