In 2014, guitarist Takafumi Matsubara suffered a brain infarction resulting in partial paralysis of his left hand, which led to the hiatus of Gridlink. Despite initial reports claiming his retirement from music was "likely forever", he has since recovered after intensive rehabilitation.
