Released in October, this Blvk-produced song is Chicago-based singer, songwriter and poet Jamila Woods’ first solo single since 2020’s “Sula (Paperback).” Woods said in a statement:
“The song is about learning the difference between erecting boundaries out of fear versus out of love. It is a song about the negotiation between private and shared space in a new relationship, the risk involved in letting someone get close enough to see your rough edges."

Album-versary! Released 50 (yes FIFTY!) years ago today!
In 1972, Motown legend Marvin Gaye composed the soundtrack for the film, "Trouble Man." Many critics say it was one of his finest musical achievements. This song was the title track of that blaxploitation film. Gaye performed all the vocals himself, singing most of the song in falsetto. The album’s “second voice” was that of saxophonist Trevor Lawrence, the only musician credited on the album aside from Gaye himself.

The fourth single to be released from OutKast’s sixth studio album, 'Idlewild' - the soundtrack album for the 2006 American musical film starring André 3000 and Big Boi. “Hollywood Divorce” is only one of three songs from the album that both members of OutKast appear on. Prince wrote and recorded this song in 1984, but didn't release it. Instead, he gave it to The Family, a band that was signed to his Paisley Park record label. The Family released the song on their 1985 self-titled album, which ended up being their only LP. Their version was never released as a single and the song was seldom heard until Sinéad O'Connor covered it five years later.
This was a #1 hit in 17 countries. In the US, it was one of the top songs of 1990, topping the Hot 100 for four weeks.

Born on this day in 1942, the late multi-instrumentalist Toots Hibbert was a reggae pioneer. As leader of Toots & the Maytals, he performed for six decades and establishing some of the fundamentals of reggae music. Hibbert's 1968 song "Do the Reggay" is widely credited as the genesis of the genre name reggae.
