On the single, songwriting credit was given to founding member and saxophonist Roger Ball and guitarist Hamish Stuart individually, and the entire band collectively. It is essentially an instrumental, apart from the song's title being shouted at several points in the song.

Debut solo album from German singer Nico - recorded following Nico's collaboration with the Velvet Underground on their 1967 debut studio album. It was produced by Tom Wilson, who added string and flute arrangements against the wishes of Nico. The title is a reference to Andy Warhol's 1966 film Chelsea Girls, in which Nico starred.

Special Interest is a four-piece punk band emerging from New Orleans, Louisiana. This is the 2nd album from the Swedish rock band. The Hives performed "Hate to Say I Told You So" live on KEXP's broadcast from Doug Fir during MusicfestNW in 2012. Watch the full set here: youtu.be.

Two music videos exist for this song. The video directed by Kalle Haglund stars the Hives as giant statues in Stockholm's Liljevalchs konsthall who eventually destroy the museum on the song's final "Boom." In this video, the Hives fashion suits with white dress shoes. The Avengers formed in 1977 in San Francisco. The band recorded an EP, We Are the One (1977), and after opening for the Sex Pistols worked with Steve Jones, but had not released an album before breaking up in 1979. After the breakup an EP with the Steve Jones-produced songs was released (The Avengers), and later an album, Avengers, in 1983. Their lead singer, Penelope Houston, is also a folk singer who has a solo career. Since 1999 a number of other albums were released with studio and live tracks, and the band has come together for various occasions.
