Alongside Daft Punk, these two producers, Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon, redefined dance music around the turn of the century. Now they’re back with a collaborative project and an infectious new single featuring Panda Bear. Braxe is known for making some of the most important and iconic house and pop music records of the late 90s and early 2000s including“Music Sounds Better With You” (The Upper Cuts) as Stardust with Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and official remixes for Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Kelis, Kylie Minogue and more. Bangalter also collaborated with DJ Falcon in the early days, releasing the French Touch anthem “So Much Love To Give” as the duo Together. Along with quintessential remixes for Phoenix, Cassius and Justice, Falcon most recently co-produced / wrote and featured on “Contact”, the explosive closing track of Daft Punk’s 2013 megalith Random Access Memories. www.dominomusic.com

Singer Charlie Drinkwater says “Writing ‘One Easy Thing’ was key to unlocking a more direct and personal approach to our songwriting. It’s about dealing with the small things of everyday life; the anxiety, pressures, and battles inside your own headspace - and not being afraid to show this in our songs.” “One Easy Thing” will also be on TV Priest’s forthcoming new album, due out on Sub Pop later this year. tvpriest.bandcamp.com

"Gett Off" evolved from several earlier compositions, starting with the song "Glam Slam" from 1988's Lovesexy. Prince created an unreleased remix in early 1991 called "Glam Slam '91", which used the chorus of "Glam Slam", but with new music and lyrics that borrowed partially from Graffiti Bridge's "Love Machine". Prince toyed with the song some more, adding a new chorus, and involving the newly formed New Power Generation....who were introduced on the 1991 release, Diamonds and Pearls

Fontaines D.C. was live on KEXP this month! Subscribe to our YouTube channel to be notified when the video is live: www.youtube.com -- A "Jackeen" is a derogatory term used by people from other parts of Ireland to describe someone from Dublin. The Irish city traditionally had a strong association with Britain, and when Queen Victoria visited Dublin, folks there waved Union Jacks as a welcome to Her Majesty. This led to them being referred to as Jackeens. Fontaines D.C. singer Grian Chatten, along with the rest of the band, left Ireland to pursue his music career in London. Here, he explores the transformation of their Irish culture and identity after moving to a different country. "It's this kind of mutation of Irishness or loss of Irishness as it exists, or fails to exist, in a different environment," he explained

Phoenix is offering fans a taste of the group’s forthcoming music with the release of single “Alpha Zulu.” According to a release, frontman Thomas Mars was inspired to write the track by the phrase “alpha zulu,” which he “heard a pilot repeating over the radio during a turbulent flight in a storm.” The bouncy track oozes with mid 2000s post-disco energy, making it primed for summer party playlists. -- The band has just released an official video for "Alpha Zulu": www.youtube.com

The music was based on a riff the band used to play when they were introduced at concerts as the lights came up and they were introduced to the audience. Mick Fleetwood explained how it happened: "In soundchecks we used to jam on that riff, and I did the riff in drum form. When it came time to make the album, we pulled that riff out, screwed around with it, put it in the dustbin, and then a year into making that album, I pulled it out again and took it with me as a rough track to Normandy and came up with the idea of using the brass band on it, and using about 100 drummers on it, which we did." The group's bass player John McVie had a falling out with Lindsey Buckingham and never made it to Dodger Stadium for the shoot, so he was replaced in the video with a cardboard cutout: youtu.be

Ben Gibbard describes "Roman Candles' as a concentrated effort to create something “succinct, loud and strikingly direct,” sharing that “the lyrics were cobbled from a couple of different songs dealing with my general sense of anxiety; the feeling that the fabric that weaves a functioning society together was crumbling during the pandemic.” Death Cab for Cutie will play The Paramount Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday, October 26th and 27th. -- Don't miss the video for this new song: www.youtube.com

After announcing some shows and signing to Secretly Canadian, the trio has announced a brand-new album, Cool It Down, which will be out in September. “I see the younger generations staring down this threat, and they’re standing on the edge of a precipice, confronting what’s coming with anger and defiance,” Karen O said of the new song, "Spitting Off The Edge Of The World". “It’s galvanizing, and there’s hope there.” bit.ly

The Divinyls are singer Christina Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee. They wrote this with the songwriting team of Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg, who have a knack for writing hit songs for female vocalists. They also wrote "I'll Stand By You," "Like A Virgin," "Eternal Flame," "True Colors" and "So Emotional." This is clearly about masturbation, but there's more to it. In our interview with Billy Steinberg, he said: "What I like about the song is that in spite of the fact that the chorus kind of boldly says that, the verse was much more sort of poetic and kind of meaningful. It says, 'I love myself, I want you to love me, when I feel down I want you above me, I search myself, I want you to find me, I forget myself, I want you to remind me.' Those words I think are very strong and it's not an obvious start to finish jack off song. I like playing with words, and whether it's 'Like a Virgin' or 'I Touch Myself,' I like taking phrases or words that are sort of untapped and find a way to write something meaningful and that has a rebelliousness because really that's what rock's all about. Talking 'bout my generation, you know." bit.ly Divinyls "I Touch Myself" live: youtu.be

*CELEBRATING THE MUSIC OF 1991 TODAY! This album was released through A&M Records on October 8, 1991. Soundgarden began the recording sessions for the album with new bassist Ben Shepherd in the spring of 1991. The album maintained the band's heavy metal sound while featuring an increased focus on songwriting as compared with the band's previous releases. AllMusic considered the album's music to be "surprisingly cerebral and arty"; alternative tunings and odd time signatures were present on several of the album's songs, and lyrics were intended to be ambiguous and create imagery. Of this track, Chris Cornell revealed, ""I don't know how everyone else feels... but I definitely go through periods of extreme self-confidence, feeling like I can do anything. Perhaps a fan will sense that, like in a performance, and the hero image creeps out. But then someone will say something, however insignificant, or I'll get something in my head and, all of a sudden, I'm plummeting in the opposite direction, I'm a piece of shit, and I really can't do anything about it. That's where 'Outshined' comes from, and why I'll never consider myself a hero." Check out this fantastic interview with guitarist Kim Thayil in 2016, 25 years after the album's release: bit.ly
