Atoms For Peace is an Electro-Rock supergroup comprising Radiohead vocalist Thom Yorke, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, drummer Joey Waronker and percussionist Mauro Refosco. Yorke originally formed the group to play live the songs from his laptop-driven 2006 solo album, 'The Eraser,' but they were so good in rehearsal that Yorke arranged for three days of studio recording in Los Angeles. After taking a break in the first part of 2011 whilst Radiohead released and toured their 'The King of Limbs' album, the quintet got together to record their debut album, Amok. This is Atom For Peace's debut single, which was released as a digital download on September 10, 2012. The song originated with a mistake on a sampler in Yorke's studio. He told Rolling Stone: "I hadn't patched it in right. It was giving me a tone that, when I put it with a melody, I was like 'That's nice!' I had that when Nigel and I were doing 'The Eraser'." bit.ly Atoms for Peace - "Default" - Live: youtu.be

New single from Bully features Sophia Allison of Soccer Mommy! Bognanno says, "When ‘Lose You’ came about it was the first time I've considered having someone else sing on a Bully song. I love Sophie's voice and have always admired everything she does so to me it was a no brainer. Watching her soar out of the Nashville scene and dominate indie music world wide has been a joy. Writing ‘Lose You’ was a way for me to work through the pain and reality of impermanence. It doesn't make it any easier but reflection is often followed by growth and to me that's what life is all about." Keep your ears open for a new record expected to release later this year. Peter Murphy, of course, was the vocalist for Bauhaus. In an interview, he was asked what it is that "cuts you up and spits you out." He replied: "The path of discovery, self-knowledge, wisdom... once you feel you have it. Then the path will spit you out or off the way and ruin your assumptions of this path. In fact, it is a great mighty necessity for those spiritual seekers or so-called 'holy state' desirers who become arrogant." --- The song is driven by a violin riff played on a synthesizer. According to Simon Rogers, who produced the track, they brought in a musician to replicate it on viola, but it didn't sound right.

This is a new single from the band's forthcoming "Continue as a Guest," due for release on March 31st. It's the first album since 2019’s "In the Morse Code of Brake Lights." -- New Pornographers frontperson A.C. Newman said about this song: "I pictured this one as a weird little George Saunders–esque sketch, a snapshot. I found myself a lot more concerned with performance and/or delivery, changing melody and phrasing to get a better performance, less concerned, less precious about the original melody or lyric that I wrote. With that in mind, I had the idea of angels visiting me in the night with the message that 'melody ain’t got nothing on.'"

“Contact” has a little bit of something for every part of the night. It’s a soundtrack for “pre-gaming” (a song to play as you’re getting ready or on your way to the club). It’s also the interior club experience: the heat that envelops you when you walk into a packed rave. All this culminates in a very naughty, psychedelic moment in the back of the club with a lover." kelela.bandcamp.com www.kelela.co

Seattle indie supergroup featuring members of Tacocat, Chastity Belt, and Lisa Prank,. This is our take on the Le Tigre song “My My Metro Card.” We love Le Tigre and public transit and wanted to make this song about Seattle, so we added some of our favorite Seattle bus lines and sprinkled in a local billionaire villain. It was also tied into a local sports scandal so it’s now technically a jock jam. www.stereogum.com

Temples will release a new fourth album, Exotico, on April 14. The single ‘Cicada’ is produced by Sean Ono Lennon. Discussing ‘Cicada’, the band’s Thomas Walmsley said: “‘Cicada’ came from being inspired by the sound of cicadas, and the idea of emerging from the underground after a long time of being suppressed. “We were attempting to turn that sound into a sort of dance rhythm, and once we started working with Sean we really built up the production by digging into his cupboard of keyboards and synths.” Singer/guitarist James Bagshaw added: “You never really see cicadas, but you can imagine them having a frantic life, and to me that song feels like a huge army of them whipped into a frenzy.”

Yaeji will be playing in Seattle at The Showbox on Saturay, April 8. bit.ly “With A Hammer” was composed across a two-year period in New York, Seoul, and London, begun shortly after the release of “What We Drew” and during the lockdowns of the Coronavirus pandemic. It is a diaristic ode to self-exploration; the feeling of confronting one’s own emotions, and the transformation that is possible when we’re brave enough to do so. In this case, Yaeji examines her relationship to anger. It is a departure from her previous work, blending elements of trip-hop and rock with her familiar house-influenced style, and dealing with darker, more self-reflective lyrical themes, both in English and Korean. Yaeji also utilizes live instrumentation for the first time on this album—weaving in a patchwork ensemble of live musicians, and incorporating her own guitar playing. “With A Hammer” features electronic producers and close collaborators K Wata and Enayet, and guest vocals from London’s Loraine James and Baltimore’s Nourished by Time. kraejiyaeji.bandcamp.com
