"Age of Ascent" is the latest single from the London-based Afrobeat 8-Piece, Kokoroko's upcoming debut album, 'Could We Be More' releasing on August 5! Describing this track, band member Sheila Maurice-Grey said: "We recorded it at the seaside at night and the moon was so big and shining on the sea in Eastbourne. We stood in silence and then went back to the studio to record it and you can hear that within the music: the sounds of the water, the sound of stillness and peacefulness. We try to connect spiritually to all our music and you can really feel that in ‘Age of Ascent’." www.brooklynvegan.com kokoroko.bandcamp.com www.kokorokomusic.co.uk

The lyrics of "Violet" were inspired by Love's tumultuous relationship with Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan in 1990. Several critics and scholars have noted parallels in the lyrics between Corgan as well as Love's late husband, Kurt Cobain. The themes of sexual exploitation, violence, self-abasement, and resentment, have also been noted, and some critics have compared elements of the song to the works of Bessie Smith and Janis Joplin. bit.ly

In a statement released alongside "Far Apart," MorMor's first release in over two years, the Toronto artist explains that he wrote the track about the "toxicity that occurs in a relationship when both people haven’t yet faced their demons." The heaviness of that topic is fleshed out in the lyrics, with MorMor singing about being "pulled down from above" and "buried in my doubt" in his distinctive falsetto.: www.thefader.com -- It comes with a music video directed by Camille Summers-Valli. Featuring soaring vocals from Portuguese vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist MARO. "It’s funny because we tried so many different collaborations with vocalists in varying genres to try to find the right fit for this song when we first made it, but for whatever reason nothing felt right," said the duo about the track. "We’ve been big fans of MARO’s and when we sent her a short handful of demos, this was the one she resonated with and we knew she was going to do something really special with it. Truthfully, you would have to ask MARO the meaning of this tune, but to us, 'Better Now' is about the realization that putting yourself out there is always worth it in the end." bit.ly

Chris Cornell on the lyrics: "Fell on Black Days" was like this ongoing fear I've had for years ... It's a feeling that everyone gets. You're happy with your life, everything's going well, things are exciting—when all of a sudden you realize you're unhappy in the extreme, to the point of being really, really scared. There's no particular event you can pin the feeling down to, it's just that you realize one day that everything in your life is [bleeped]!"
