Thom Yorke composed this first song from Radiohead's "Kid A" on piano. He wrote it about how he felt after a show on their 1997 OK Computer tour. The show was in Birmingham, England, and when Yorke got off stage he went to the dressing room and felt completely burned out. James Goodson’s Dazy and Ian Shelton’s Militarie Gun have released a collaborative track, “Pressure Cooker.” “Ever since I met Ian, we’ve had a tendency to veer off into long conversations about songwriting, but when he suggested we should try to do something together I thought he was just being friendly,” says Goodson in a statement. “He kept bringing it up so finally I showed him a song I’d been working on, and in no time at all he was sending back vocals and new ideas. This Seattle band spearheaded by Patrick Haggerty released the first openly gay country album in 1973. Nearly 50 years later, they’re now releasing a follow-up, and it’s an engaging set of warm, folk-tinged country with lyrics addressing gay repression, bigotry and sexism. Nikki Goodman provides lead vocals on this track.

The band's name is Spanish for "French fries" but is also a pun on the phrase "Pop has freed us," which they used as both the name of their music publishing company and their 2003 career retrospective.

Rolling Stone says: The Smile have unearthed the unreleased Radiohead gem “Skrting on the Surface” for the latest single from the Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood side project. The track dates back to Radiohead’s In Rainbows sessions and was performed live a handful of times by both that band and Yorke’s Atoms for Peace side project before disappearing for a decade. With the Smile, “Skrting on the Surface” gets a technicolor makeover thanks to Greenwood’s arpeggios, Tom Skinner’s drum work and a bath of synths and subtle brass that accompany Yorke in the closing minutes. The song was not about the real life "Son of Sam", serial killer David Berkowitz. Smith explained, "It's not about the serial killer. I'm not sure exactly what it's about because it's just sort of like telling someone a dream you had last night. There are some destructive figures in it, 'Son of Sam', Shiva... but Shiva's also associated with creativity... I'm not sure... it's just an impressionistic song about destruction and creativity, I guess, if it's about anything."
