“Hot Summer” was recorded for an album entitled, "Welcome 2 America", in 2010, and is now being posthumously released by Prince's estate and Legacy Recordings. The album is described as "a powerful creative statement that documents Prince's concerns, hopes, and visions for a shifting society, presciently foreshadowing an era of political division, disinformation, and a renewed fight for racial justice." www.cnn.com

"Go Outside" is a single from Cults‘ first studio self-titled album. The track, without context, is about escaping a troubled relationship with a person who’d rather spend their time indoors and miserable. With context, the track delves into the mind of a cult member escaping their normal life and finding peace within a commune. The opening quote by notorious cult leader and serial killer Jim Jones is a snippet from the infamous Jonestown recording simply titled the ‘Death Tape.’ The video, directed by Isaih Seret, features daily life in the Peoples Temple. Cults members Brian and Madeline play the roles of the Jonestown band, and they’re seen – with the help of Seret’s SFX – attending Jones' masses and singing in the main pavillion. The video originally featured footage of the aftermath of the murder-suicide, but was cut from production before being released. genius.com youtu.be

Aaron Frazer, co-lead singer, said in a statement: "Whether on tour or spinning records, over the years we realized how much we love making people dance. When the first notes hit or the needle drops and the whole crowd lights up, that’s a feeling we held onto all through 2020. And that’s what we’re bringing on 'The Way That I Do.' It's a run-to-the-dancefloor song for that special person who gets you shook, makes you wanna do more and be your best self. But it's also for everyone who's missed just getting together and movin' their ass!" bit.ly durandjonesandtheindications.com

The Goon Sax are James Harrison, Louis Forster and Riley Jones from Brisbane, Australia. thegoonsax.bandcamp.com In a press release, band member Louis Forster shared a statement about the origins of “In the Stone”: “In the Stone” is set in Berlin where I moved with my partner at the time, just after finishing school and recording our last album 'We’re Not Talking' at the end of 2017. We were both exploring ourselves—accepting each other’s changes and celebrating flux—but also reckoning with the complicated need for a solid sense of self and the person we loved. Musically the song was influenced by what was playing in the background of our conversations which often took place in Ubers, supermarkets, outside parties etc. So it probably bears more of a subconsciously absorbed modern pop influence than anything else we’ve done as a band. bit.ly Watch the lightning flash as the band plays in the live video for "In the Stone": youtu.be

Nation of Language will perform at The Crocodile on Thursday, October 14th. -- Ian Devaney said of this new single, released yesterday: "After I dropped out of college I spent a number of years delivering pizzas and waiting tables while I lived at home and tried to get a music career going. One ends up spending a lot of time contending with unrealized dreams and feeling jealousy towards those who have moved on. There’s an inferiority complex that can set in, which if unchecked, can lead down a pretty bitter and self-destructive road. This is a song for driving down that road, as indecision and longing and regret cycle together into mania, until finally, at the end, quiet acceptance and peace wash over." : bit.ly

It was self-produced by him and has multi-instrumentalist Josh Gordon on bass, guitar, drums, percussion, and keys. It’s been four years since the Blow released an album, 2017’s Brand New Abyss, which we named our Album Of The Week back when it came out.
