Men I Trust is a Canadian indie electro-pop band from Montreal. the band noted that the green, solitary confines of rural Quebec were influential in shaping how the album sounded. "It put us in a really different creative mood and we were able to focus more, because there’s nothing to do outside of the house except for walking and thinking about music,” said singer and guitarist Emmanuelle Proulx.

Goldfrapp began work on "Ooh La La" in late 2004 in a small rented house in the countryside of Bath, England. The song was composed as a collaborative effort between Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory while jamming in the recording studio, bouncing song ideas off each other. Goldfrapp contributed the song's lyrics, and has described the song as being "sulky, sexual and a bit ambiguous"

The track is built around a sample of the 1973 song "Sometimes I Cry" by the jazz pianist Les McCann. It's taken from a vinyl record with lots of pops and scratches that are essential to the sound. When Massive Attack performed the song live in 2019, they replayed the sample from a reel-to-reel tape recorder to preserve the analog sound.

The Gap Band was an American R&B and funk band that rose to fame during the 1970s and 1980s. The band consisted of three brothers Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson; and it was named after streets (Greenwood, Archer, and Pine) in the historic Greenwood neighborhood in the brothers' hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Riddled with nostalgia, this song finds LCD mainman James Murphy recalling his crazy younger years, which were filled with excitement and bad decisions. Dylan Kwabena Mills, better known by his stage name Dizzee Rascal, is a British MC, rapper, songwriter and record producer. The beat for this song heavily samples "The Big Beat" by Billy Squier. In a 2016 interview with Complex Magazine, Dizzee Rascal noted about making this one, "I started writing so that the “Woos!” would come at the end of the sentence. I built around that. It wasn’t crazy to me because I was into heavy metal and rock and grunge before I was into hip-hop."
