"Indian Yard" is the debut record from Sitka, Alaska project Ya Tseen. The project's founder is artist Nicholas Galanin, one of the most vital voices in contemporary art.
Galanin was born in Sitka, Alaska, in 1979, and is Tlingit and Unangax̂. As a young boy, he learned to work with jewelry and metals from his father and uncle. He is also the grandchild of master carver George Benson. At the age of eighteen, Galanin worked a desk job at the Sitka National Historical Park. When he was discovered drawing Tlingit art, on a slow day at the park, he was informed that he was only allowed to read Russian history books during working hours. So, he quit his job to pursue art. He recalls this as his last job that was non-creative.
In 2003, At London Guildhall University in England, he studied silversmithing and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts with honors in Jewelry Design & Silversmithing. In 2007, he received a Masters of Fine Arts in indigenous visual arts at Massey University in New Zealand. Galanin has also done apprenticeships with master carvers and jewelers. bit.ly

The 1988 debut of Björk’s first internationally recognized band helped launch her solo career in 1993. This was their first international single and the first single released from the album. The Icelandic-language version "Ammæli" was released on the Iceland-only single Einn Mol Á Mann (One Cube Per Head) the previous year and was included as the B-side on the international single.

Damien Jurado's new album, "The Monster Who Hated Pennsylvania," will be out Friday. Each song on the album tells the story of a different person, all imagined by Jurado. It was self-produced by him and has multi-instrumentalist Josh Gordon on bass, guitar, drums, percussion, and keys.

"Get By" by Talib Kweli samples Nina Simone's "Sinnerman"
Talib Kweli earned recognition early on through his collaboration with fellow Brooklyn rapper Mos Def, when they formed the group Black Star. Kweli's musical career continued with solo success including collaborations with producers and rappers Kanye West, Just Blaze, and Pharrell Williams. Of the album's title, Kweli explained, "It was just the best way of trying to describe what I wanted to do. The word just fit. I'm trying to focus on quality over quantity."
Modest Mouse will return in June with The Golden Casket, their seventh record, and marking their first new album in six years.
Produced with Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee in Los Angeles and Modest Mouse’s Portland studio, the record is said to reflect "the liminal space between raw punk power and experimental studio science," according to an official release. "The twelve tracks behave like amorphous organisms, undergoing dramatic mutations and mood swings that speak to the chronic tug-of-war between hope and despair that plays out in frontman [Isaac] Brock’s head." bit.ly

“PAC-MAN is a game my parents and I can both remember playing in arcades growing up,” Yaeji said in a statement. “It connects me to my previous generation and possibly to future generations too.” This song was written as a promotion for Pac-man, and Yaeji utilized all the nostalgic sounds straight from the game itself.
Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay have reunited to revive their collaborative project, “LUMP”, and have shared the title track from their upcoming second album together. “LUMP is the repository for so many things that I’ve had in my mind and just don’t fit anywhere in that way,” Marling said of the project. “They don’t have to totally make narrative sense, but weirdly they end up making narrative sense in some way.” ‘Animal’ is slated to release 7/30 via Chrysalis/Partisan Records.

This is the first track released ahead of London-based musician Baba Ali’s debut album. Originally hailing from New Jersey, he revealed the inspiration behind the title of the song: Where I live in London, my window faces the high street and I’m not too far from a church. In the autumn there were a lot of funerals, and the horse and carriage procession would often come down the street. It’s quite an arresting image; it feels like it’s from a different era. That’s the “black wagon”, and the rest of the lyrics are me reminiscing about the feeling of going to raves and coming home at sunrise…
Keep an ear out for the debut album “Memory Device” produced and recorded with Al Doyle (LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip) in East London.
Furs drummer Vince Ely had left the band, leaving lead singer Richard Butler, bass player Tim Butler and guitarist John Ashton to work as a trio. Producer Keith Forsey handled the majority of the drumming on the album.
'VIEWS' is the first look at Noga Erez's forthcoming second album due out later this year. Erez elaborates on the new single, saying "In my verse, I tried to voice that insecurity that can lead to people faking or buying views to portray an appearance of success. I wanted to relate to that feeling, not criticize. We thought it would be more interesting to have a counter perspective to mine so we reached out to Reo and he came back with his magnifying verse about (as I understand it) how this sort of stuff comes back to haunt you in the end."

The debut album from this duo comprised of Roddy Bottum (Faith No More, Imperial Teen) and his boyfriend Joey Holman is a potent set of well-crafted indie-pop inflected with shoegazer dream-pop, ‘80s synth-pop, atmospheric folk-pop and other styles, combining fuzzy guitars, synths and piano with sunny melodies, warm harmonies and frank, often-playful lyrics celebrating gay love.
Liars are back with The Apple Drop, their first album in three years, which will be out August 6 via Mute. Where 2017’s TFCF and 2018’s Titles with the Word Fountain were basically Angus Andrew solo records, this one has him collaborating with jazz drummer Laurence Pike, multi-instrumentalist Cameron Deyell, and lyricist Mary Pearson Andrew. "For the first time I embraced collaboration from an early stage," says Angus, "allowing the work of others to influence the work of my own.”
“Throughout Liars’ history I have consistently tried to develop new methods of creating music,” Angus says. “On each project I’ve essentially abandoned previous methods and attempted to instead learn different ways of writing and producing songs. Where once I perceived this journey as a straight line, I’m increasingly realising my trajectory is more akin to a spiral.
