“Favor” features backing vocals from her boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers.
“We sang on ‘Favor’ in Nashville the same day we recorded vocals for ‘Graceland Too’ and a song of mine,” Dacus said in a press statement. “That day had the same atmosphere as when we recorded the boygenius EP.”
Bridgers added, “Julien is one of those people whose opinion you want to hear about everything. A true critical thinker with an ever-changing and ridiculously articulate worldview. Her music changes in the same way, and this record is my favorite thing she’s ever done. I’m sure I’ll think the same about the next one.”
From the 1983 debut album by Aztec Camera, or more specifically, Roddy Frame. Something of a prodigy, Frame began playing guitar when he was just four years old. "Yeah, I started learning guitar when I was about four years old. I was playing the thing when I was around nine or ten ... I was just completely crazy about it [guitar] by the time I was four or five years old." bit.ly

As Days Get Dark is Arab Strap's first full-length LP in 16 years, seventh studio album, and first on Mogwai's label, Rock Action. Aidan Moffat describes it thusly: "It’s about hopelessness and darkness. But in a fun way."
"This album feels like its own new thing to me,” he continues. “It’s definitely Arab Strap, but an older and wiser one, and quite probably a better one."
If you haven't seen their entirely Hallowe'en appropriate video for "Turning of our Bones," don't miss out. Warning: NOT kid friendly! bit.ly
Jessica Winter sits outside genre, scene or group, defined not by sound but by song. Much of her childhood was spent in isolation, looking out of the window from her hospital bed , from which her vivid imagination grew into a universe. Jessica's inspiration is drawn from robust daily experience and traverses sounds from the 80s, trap, indie, chanteuse and unadulterated pop.

Unlike most Clash songs, which were written by Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, "The Guns Of Brixton" was written by bass player Paul Simonon, who decided to get in on the songwriting himself. It became one of the band's best-known songs and a staple of their live set. Simonon takes lead vocal duties on the song, which is about gangsters in his hometown of Brixton in South London.: daily.redbullmusicacademy.com
This London-based band’s fourth album is an expansive blend of jangly psych-pop, dance-friendly electro-pop, driving post-punk and more, combining acoustic and electric guitars, bright synths and often-propulsive rhythms with soaring pop hooks and lyrics revolving around escape. Featuring English-French actress and singer-songwriter Charlotte Gainsbourg.
Clocking in just under three minutes in length, “Rainforest” is the latest track to showcase Noname’s unique mellow flow and her penchant for slick retro-themed beats. Stereogum wrote that while the hook is seemingly a forlorn take on trust in relationships (“How you get closer to love?/ How you lemonade all your sadness when you opening up?”) the rest of the song concerns itself with the realities of hustle culture, the environmental ignorance of greed, and the intersection of capitalism and race.

Australian band's first new song since 2016. Since Tom Iansek and Joanna Syme released their last album as Big Scary, they’ve both been respectively busy working on other projects. “Stay” is the first new single to be featured on their forthcoming record, “Daisy” which will be released on April 30th via the band’s own label, Pieater, and Intertia.
The debut album from French multi-instrumentalist/producer Jean Dasso (aka Yeahman) is an excellent set of transportive electronic grooves that carry a dreamy worldly touch. Named for the Ostriconi valley in Corsica, France and inspired by his travels within the tranquil and picturesque region, Yeahman's sonic explorations revel in a lush, organic, and lightly pulsating zone.

The Avalanches are the first artist ever to spend four weeks at #1 on the College Charts with this record!
This track features Leon Bridges, as well as a sample of Alan Parsons Project’s “Eye in the Sky” and is inspired — like the album itself — by the story of astronomer Carl Sagan and his wife Ann Druyan capturing their romance on tape and sending it into space as part of the Voyager’s Golden Record. - bit.ly

This London-based artist’s debut album is a promising set of retro-leaning, jazz-tinged R&B that’s reminiscent at times of Adele along with Amy Winehouse, featuring a warm, soulful sound with acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, horns, strings and more accompanying her dynamic, smoky vocals and lyrics of love, loss and autonomy.
From Claud Mintz' new record on Phoebe Bridgers' new imprint, Saddest Factory Records. The album features collaborations with Clairo, Blu DeTiger, Nick Hakim, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra's Jake Portrait.

'Jubilee' is the third album from Japanese Breakfast. Michelle Zauner said in a statement, “After spending the last five years writing about grief, I wanted our follow up to be about joy. For me, a third record should feel bombastic and so I wanted to pull out all the stops for this one. I wrote "Be Sweet" with Jack Tatum from Wild Nothing a few years ago. I’ve been holding onto it for so long and am so excited to finally put it out there.”
'Jubilee' is out June 4 via Dead Oceans and Zauner will release her memoir 'Crying in H Mart' on April 20.

For “Road Of The Lonely Ones”, Madlib used a couple of tracks from the Ethics, a Philadelphia soul group from the ’60s. Madlib left their soft, longing falsetto vocals mostly intact, shaping the track around them. Talking to NPR, Four Tet says, “Even though there was still going to be no featured vocalists, we could have these sort of poppy singles with vocal hooks,” and “Road Of The Lonely Ones” unlocked that idea."

The Slow Rush is the fourth studio album by Australian musical project Tame Impala, released on 14 February 2020. It follows the 2015 album Currents and the 2019 singles "Patience" and "Borderline", with the latter serving as the first single from the album.
From Pitchfork: “On his fourth album, Kevin Parker takes a breath and eases into a smoother psychedelic sound. Even without the adrenaline-filled highs, the compositions are as rich and thoughtful as ever.”

First single from the upcoming third album, 'A Billion Little Lights' from this NYC band, out this Friday, February 19, 2021. In a press release, Wild Pink frontman John Ross talked about this track, which also features vocals from the Ratboys' Julia Steiner:
"It was inspired by Carl Sagan’s Cosmos as well as “If I Needed You” by Townes Van Zandt, this song is named for a grim retirement home in Florida. It’s about somebody who was born sheltered realizing how large the world is and how unimportant they are. Julia Steiner’s vocal contributions brought the song to fruition, and it was a lot of fun to make. We spent a lot of time focusing on the drums and percussion, using a phone recording of some cicadas in a quieter part towards the end of the song, and I really like all the stuff Dan came up with like the Agogo bells and Rototoms."
