Heart of the Congos is a roots reggae album by The Congos, produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry at his Black Ark studio.

GENERAL SMILEY and PAPA MICHIGAN were the first DJs to become popular in the late 70s by working in combination. They trade off flawlessly, and use vocals you can understand. Unlike many others, this team realized that they didn't have to use slang or ghetto language in order to retain their roots.
