From the Nov 4 album release "Where I'm Meant to Be" -- "No Confusion" is a tribute to Tony Allen, Ezra Collective’s Femi Koleoso says, “Drum lessons with Uncle Tony didn’t just change my life, but Ezra Collective’s. The most valuable thing he ever taught me was, always be yourself. Be who you are. Be proud of who you are. When you truly are who you’re meant to be, you have no confusion. Confusion by Fela Kuti is one of the only recorded drum solos by Uncle Tony - it’s so him, no one else could have played it. This track is so us. We’re at a place where we really know who we are as a band - and there’s No Confusion about it.” diymag.com

Dubbed “The 4th film by Samo” with cinematography credits to Fernando Hevia, the video for Late At Night was released yesterday, along with a special comment from Protoje. Featuring the warm vocals of Lila Iké, "[This is] one of [the] most crucial songs out of my catalogue,” Protoje has commented. "I’ve been searching for an instrumental that epitomizes hardcore reggae." The original track was recorded by the Philadelphia soul group The Stylistics and Detroit’s R&B vocal trio The Jones Girls. “It feels like how Welcome To Jamrock by Damian Marley felt when I first heard it, and Lila’s voice adds this eerie and haunting element to an already dark and grimy riddim,” he continued. Protoje’s new single, which was co-produced by UK heavyweight DJ and beatsmith Cadenza, intricately weaves 1970s American soul and 1980s Jamaican lover’s rock into a modern-day masterpiece. The song’s rhythmic framework samples Late At Nights recorded by Jamaica’s iconic songstress Pam Hall and Reggae architect Gussie Clark. bit.ly

. "(Escapándome) de mí" stitches electric guitar strums with iLe’s Auto-Tuned vocals, adding gritty electronic textures to a track about the fears of entanglement. It’s one of iLe's favorite songs on the album, in part because of the production and arrangement. "I didn't want the song to stay in the monotony of my voice," iLe explains, adding that she and producer Ismael Cancel deepened and modulated her vocals to heighten the song’s slightly psychedelic aura. ilevitable.com
