Bandleader, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Emma-Jean Thackray was born and raised in Yorkshire but is today a resident of Catford, south-east London. Her acclaimed new album, "Yellow," takes inspiration from a number of modish sources, including Flying Lotus’ wonky beat sorcery, the mystic jazz of Alice Coltrane, Roy Ayers’ sunshine-soaked funk, and Sun Ra’s cosmic overload.: bit.ly

Leeds native George Evelyn formed Nightmares On Wax in the late ‘80s in a scene teeming with hip-hop and b-boy culture. He got his start dancing before eventually beginning to DJ. Eventually, Evelyn formed a crew in the form of production specialist John Halnon and musician Kevin Harper. But after only one studio album, the others parted to develop their respective solo projects, leaving Evelyn on his own to pursue Nightmares On Wax.

There has always been a Reggae influence in the music of El Michels Affair. While recording Leon Bailey’s 2020 'Ekundayo' album, they did some straight forward reggae tunes alongside some modern R&B tracks. It is the same notion that old and new can live together that birthed the idea of 'Ekundayo Inversions'.
El Michels used the blueprints left behind to make something using the influences of today - straying so far from the traditional format that it didn’t seem right to use the word "Dub" hence: 'Ekundayo Inversions'.

Chaz Bear (Toro y Moi) has often identified with the rise of the chillwave movement in 2010 and 2011, and is now transitioning into psychedelic synth-bedroom pop.
He noted about this release, "It's a cover of a song by a fellow Afro-Filipino, Joe Bataan. His music first caught my ear back in 2009 when Ryan Kattner of Man Man played it for me. I was immediately hooked by Joe's music, because to me, he represented the impossible - he felt so comfortable in his skin and he had so much confidence and appeal."
