Like the first incarnation of the project, SHADES OF FLU 2 uses remixes as a method of communal music-making during a time of isolation and loss in the jazz world. Kassa takes a gonzo approach to the jazz tradition, lovingly and irreverently reinventing music by his friends and mentors, from Brandee Younger and Dezron Douglas to Kris Davis and Terri Lyne Carrington, blurring the lines between sample-heavy beatmaking, remixing, and original songwriting.

NEW MUSIC! "NOW" was created in the final throes of Summer 2020, following months of pandemic-induced fear & isolation, the explosion of social unrest, struggle & violence in the streets, and as the certain presence of a new reality had fully settled in. Set up safely in the garden behind Chicago’s Experimental Sound Studio, the music was recorded in only a few takes, capturing the first times members of BME had ever played or sang the tunes.
For Locks, the impetus was more about getting together to commune and make art than it was about producing an album. In his words: “It was about offering a new thought. It was about resisting the darkness. It was about expressing possibility. It was about asking the question, ‘Since the future has unfolded and taken a new and dangerous shape... what happens NOW?’”

For his new single "Hope You're Doin' Better," LA producer MNDSGN explores this sentiment in a most unique way. Over a soothing and retro groove, he sings of wishing the best for someone despite their lapse in communication. The lyrics are both touching and transparent, as they were written while he came to terms with a loved one’s struggle with mental illness. La Femme is a French psych-punk rock band established by guitarist Sacha Got and keyboard player Marlon Magnée in Biarritz. Many members joined in later including bass player Sam Lefevre, drummer Noé Delmas and Lucas Nunez from Paris. The group was named La Femme in 2010. Their new album "Paradigme" was just released earlier this month.
Mordechai is the third studio album by Houston, Texas trio Khruangbin. Drummer Donald “DJ” Johnson and bassist Laura Lee discuss how they developed such diverse influences, singing in 16 different languages, and their support for the Black Lives Matter movement. “We see music as a vehicle to highlight those similarities between people so people can stand together, listen to the same music together and experience it,” Laura Lee says.

Sharon Van Etten unveiled the final cover from her 'epic Ten' reissue — and it’s likely that it’s the one you’ve been waiting for. Big Red Machine, IDLES, Lucinda Williams, Shamir, Courtney Barnett, and Vagabond contributed so far, but today’s comes from none other than Fiona Apple.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Van Etten explained Apple’s influence on her music and how thrilled she is that the singer-songwriter is covering one of her songs, despite having never met.
