Originally appears on Preston's 1974 album "The Kids & Me", his ninth studio album.
Preston was a top session keyboardist in the 1960s, during which he backed artists such as Little Richard, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, the Everly Brothers, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. He gained attention as a solo artist with hit singles such as the Grammy-winning "Outa-Space", and "Nothing from Nothing."
Preston is one of only two non-Beatle musicians (along with Tony Sheridan) to be given a credit on a Beatles recording at the band's request; the group's 1969 single "Get Back" was credited as "The Beatles with Billy Preston".
Happy birthday to Billy Preston, born on this day in 1946! Billy Preston, American singer-songwriter, pianist, and actor, died June 6, 2006 59 years old. A virtuoso keyboardist, particularly on Hammond organ, Preston was recognized as a top session musician in the 1960s, during which he backed artists such as Little Richard, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and the Beatles., sometimes referred to as the "Fifth Beatle," played organ and piano on some tracks, including "Get Back," which was credited to "The Beatles with Billy Preston."

Mimi is Corridor's first album in five years.
“'For a long time, we identified as a guitar-oriented band, and the goal of making this whole record was trying to get away from that,' [Dominic] Berthiaume states while admitting that the band encountered their own challenges as a result: 'We had to figure out how to make new songs without having the chance to play together. It was complicated sometimes.'” Read more here: corridormtl.bandcamp.com

For Julia!
On this song, Charli doesn't just own her success, she throws a virtual parade for the muses and collaborators who helped her get there. Model Gabbriette, actress Julia Fox, and producer A.G. Cook all get name-dropped during the track, a subtle nod to the community that's fostered her artistic journey – a digital "mother" of sorts..

"Kacey Musgraves’ third album goes down so smoothly that it might not even scan as a total reinvention. Throughout the songs on Golden Hour, the East Texas singer-songwriter is radiant, awestruck, taking the scenic route to the bar just for the hell of it."

This song is one of many that documents the break-up of a relationship, with a requirement for the narrator in each song to confront the associated emotional turbulence before moving beyond it and starting a new chapter for himself. Sea change indeed, then. Evidently, Beck was apprehensive about revealing the depths of his feelings around these kinds of themes, given that he’d personally broken up with his partner of nine years around the time this album was released. He wanted to avoid self-indulgence, and capturing his own misery in amber. Eventually though, it occurred to him that songs about break-ups are legion because the pain associated with the end of a relationship is universal to the human experience. Why not write about it? bit.ly

This is a reworking of a previously-unreleased Björk track, originally written in the late ’90s during the recording sessions for two of her most beloved albums, Homogenic and Vespertine. Bjork has just released it to join Iceland’s fight against Norwegian-owned commercial farming operations that threaten to disrupt native ecosystems. Proceeds from "Oral" will be used to support a legal case against the fisheries.

"Favourite" is a song which frontman Grian Chatten describes as having "this never-ending sound to it, a continuous cycle from euphoria to sadness, two worlds spinning forever." The band also shared an accompanying music video, featuring home footage of all five members stitched together. Check out the video here: www.youtube.com
The Stone Roses based the demo of "Fools Gold" around a four-bar loop lifted from a James Brown track ( "Funky Drummer."). It was guitarist John Squire who actually discovered the track in a Manchester record shop.
--
Squire said: "The construction of that single was completely different to anything we'd written before. It wasn't something that was knocked out and arranged on an acoustic guitar, then taken into rehearsals and kicked around with a drummer and a bassist. I just put it on a portastudio and started playing guitar over it. The main riff was partly inspired by Johnny Cash's rockabilly plucking sound, that muted guitar sound you get when you just play on the bass strings."
