This upcoming album, which will be released on July 21 on Parlophone, follows Blur's last reunion album — 2015’s The Magic Whip — and was produced by James Ford, who last worked with Damon Albarn for the Gorillaz’s 2018 album, The Now Now.
"This is an aftershock record, reflection and comment on where we find ourselves now," said Albarn of the new record. Lead guitarist Graham Coxon added, "The older and madder we get, it becomes more essential that what we play is loaded with the right emotion and intention. Sometimes just a riff doesn’t do the job."
"For any long-term relationship to last with any meaning you have to be able to surprise each other somehow and somehow we all continue to do that," said bassist Alex James. bit.ly

Special guests include Danny Brown, Aesop Rock, Quelle Chris, Samuel T. Herring, ELUCID, Benjamin Booker and other notables.

Blondshell is the new moniker of NYC-born, LA-based artist Sabrina Teitelbaum, who used to make alt-pop as BAUM. She's shared her first single with the name, the painful, potent "Olympus," which she told Nylon is "about the experience of falling in love with someone and knowing that it wasn’t going to work out while still being in love."
"When I showed the demo to the producer I ended up working with [Yves Rothman], he was like, 'Okay, do you have any more songs like this?' Because I think it’s what he had been waiting to hear from me." bit.ly

Honoring Malcolm X on his birthday!
“The common goal of 22 million Afro-Americans is respect as human beings, the God-given right to be a human being. Our common goal is to obtain the human rights that America has been denying us. We can never get civil rights in America until our human rights are first restored. We will never be recognized as citizens there until we are first recognized as humans.” — “Racism: the Cancer that is Destroying America,” in Egyptian Gazette (Aug. 25 1964).
Honoring Malcolm X - Kamasi Washington on his epic project 'The Epic', which Pitchfork described as: "a generational intervention—an educational tool that widens the definition of styles that fall under 'jazz classicism.'"
The lyrics here are from Ossie Davis' eulogy for Malcolm X. and from Malcolm X's "The Last Message." -- Here is Davis' 1965 eulogy: www.malcolmx.com
