Rosalía explained in a statement that she came up with the beatfor "SAOKO" while playing an upright piano at Electric Lady’s Studio B in New York. From there, she added classic reggaeton drums from a music library sent to her by the producer Mr. NaisGai, a go-to collaborator of Rauw Alejandro. Rosalía, who has teased the song on social media for several weeks, added that she wanted to use the “Saoco” sample because it was “the most direct homage I can make to classic reggaeton, a genre that I love and that has been a constant and great inspiration throughout the Motomami project.”
Caroline Elizabeth Polachek is an American singer and songwriter. Raised in Connecticut, Polachek co-founded the indie pop band Chairlift.

Fontaines D.C. will play the Showbox SoDo on Saturday, May 14th (Just Mustard opening)!
The phrase “skinty fia” is Irish, translating to “the damnation of the deer.” The title and cover art are both references to the extinct Irish giant deer, with a press release alluding to the idea that the band seized on the symbol for an album that meditates on their Irish identity. bit.ly

UK duo Let’s Eat Grandma announced in November the forthcoming release of their third album and “Happy New Year” is our latest preview. Rosa Walton of the band said of the track Walton said in a statement: “I wrote ‘Happy New Year’ after a breakdown between [Jenny Hollingworth and me] that lasted for a long period of time, to communicate to her how important she is to me and how our bond and care for each other goes much deeper than this difficult time. I used the setting of New Year as both an opportunity for reflection, looking back nostalgically through childhood memories that we shared, and to represent the beginning of a fresh chapter for us. I’d been struggling to come to terms with the fact that our relationship had changed, but as the song and time progresses I come to accept that it couldn’t stay the way it was when we were kids forever, and start to view it as a positive thing – because now we have been able to grow into our own individual selves.”

Brooklyn's Bodega have announced their second full-length album, Broken Equipment, which will be out March 11th.
"Sometime on tour near the end of 2019 I found myself reading and watching a plethora of self-help books and YouTube vids,” says the band's Ben Hozie, explaining the idea behind the lyric. “This started from a genuine desire for spiritual and physical improvement, but I soon started noticing how advertisements everywhere were utilising the language of self-help. I was being programmed."
‘You don’t have time to cook dinner tonight because you are too busy crushing it as a doer: You are creating next level content and don’t have time to hang out w/ friends or family this weekend so download this app and have ready-made food delivered to you for 29.99.’ This ideology of constant productivity forces you to treat your own body, mind, time, and friends as products to mine. As a result, the world becomes a smaller, duller place.”

Sharon Van Etten's new single “Porta” is a hopeful message of working through the darkness and depression, and taking time to reach out to friends.
“Porta” showcases Van Etten’s love for electronic music, first introduced on 'Remind Me Tomorrow'. ‘80s synths and drums build the song up into a thrilling climax that ushers in Van Etten’s warm guitar playing. “Porta” is a reflection on the fear of losing herself, as she repeats, “Want to hear myself, wanna be there/ Wanna stay but I don’t want to leave it.”
According to Van Etten, “Porta” was written “at one of my lowest lows. For most of my adult life I have struggled with bouts of depression and anxiety and coping mechanisms, and I sometimes let those dark moments get the best of me. During this time I felt very dissociated. Not connected to my body and I felt out of control.”

'Valentine' is the second studio album by American musician Snail Mail.
From KEXP's 'For Your Consideration' column about Valentine: The layered textures of deep bass grooves, jittery high hats, and droning synth convey the familiar anxiety of trying to appear OK when you're not, long before Lindsey ever opens her mouth. She plays confidence and nonchalance as a character, allowing the music to reveal subtext, before finally dropping the charade in time for the bridge. www.kexp.org
