Sleaford Mods vocalist Jason Williamson said in a statement about the song: "Imagine you’ve got limited options, unsure how you’re getting by that week, looking out the window of the damp flat you don’t want to live in, and seeing a bunch of posers having a photo shoot because ‘cool architecture bro, we feel your pain.'"

Boards of Canada are a Scottish electronic music duo consisting of brothers Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin. Talking about their third studio album, "The Campfire Headphase," the duo said, "We usually imagine our music to have a visual element while we're writing it, so we were picturing this character losing his mind at the campfire and compressing weeks of events into a few hours, in that time-stretching way that acid f***s with your perception." Guitarist Jimmy James recently told American Songwriter about the process of recording:
“It’s a collaborative effort with all of us,” James says. “What’s great about people having input is that then the band sounds more natural, more cohesive. The band sounds more together in that way and that’s the way it should be. Because if the band sounds comfortable and it sits on the groove, then it comes to life.”

“’Afrique Victime’ is a message to all of the countries with money and power who come into Africa and kill the leaders who try to empower the people and lead revolutions,” says Tuareg musician Mdou Moctar. “This pushes the area into danger and instability and emboldens the terrorists, and it’s the people who suffer and have no justice. Africa is innocent. The French use our uranium, but 90% of the people here don’t have electricity. Imagine.” www.stereogum.com

Bronski Beat formed in 1983. All members of the band were openly gay and their songs reflected this, often containing political commentary on gay-related issues. The trio were unhappy with the inoffensive nature of contemporary gay performers and sought to be more outspoken and political.

This song is a semi-autobiographical story of Jimmy Somerville, who was the lead singer of the band at the time. The song covers the oppression of homosexuals in provincial Scotland in the early 1980s.
The music video was groundbreaking in its depiction of what the song meant. It showed Somerville being attacked by a homophobic gang and being brought home by police to the family who he attempted to run away from: www.youtube.com

A brief statement from Staples on the new album and title:
"It really gives much more information about me that wasn’t out there before. That’s why I went with that title. I feel like I’ve been trying to tell the same story. As you go on in life, your point of view changes. This is another take on myself that I might not have had before."

Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Curtis Harding returns with his first new music in three years with a powerful anthem for these times. Harding explained:
“I wrote [“Hopeful”] some time ago but in theory it goes far beyond a time and place. I’ve always tried to carry it (Hope) wherever I am. Darkness finds us all, hope allows us the fortitude to seek out the light.”

This was a campaign organized by women in Saudi Arabia to give women in the country the rights to drive vehicles. It should be noted that prior to June 2018, women living in Saudi Arabia were prohibited from driving motor vehicles.

The initial tracks for 'Keep It Like a Secret' were recorded on Nov 1997 at Bear Creek studios in Woodinville, Washington by Phil Ek, with overdubs recorded on mid 1998 at Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle, Washington. Built to Spill embraced the sounds of a big studio and focused their sound without sacrificing their fractured indie rock aesthetic.
