Daniel Dumile, the rapper and producer best known as MF DOOM, died Oct. 31, according to a message posted on his Instagram account by his wife, Jasmine Dumile. No cause of death was given. He was 49 years old.: www.npr.org

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross recorded this version of David Bowie’s “Life on Mars?” for the HBO series 'Watchmen'. The instrumental appears in the recently aired seventh episode, “An Almost Religious Awe.” Reznor has referred to Bowie as a “mentor” and “fatherly figure” in a written memorial, has contributed to the singer’s 1997 single “I’m Afraid of Americans,” and even appeared in the music video for the track.
