Spoon in 80s mode. Earlier this year, Spoon released a cover of the classic Cramps track "TV Set" apropos of nothing. It works quite well: www.stereogum.com.
Great, great shoegaze out of St. Petersburg, Russia. Other things St. Petersburg is known for? The Hermitage, a large number of foreign consulates, and numerous parks. And shoegaze, evidently.
Alchemist + Oh No Present: Welcome to Los Santos combines clips of the score for Grand Theft Auto with tracks written for a specific radio station in Grand Theft Auto V. This sounds complicated, but some cool tracks came out of it.

Acoustic version of the great Arcade Fire track "The Suburbs." Father John Misty has also recently covered tracks by Nirvana ("Heart Shaped Box") and Leonard Cohen ("I'm Your Man"). Both are quite good. He's at Capitol Hill Block Party this year.
