This CD is a live performance at Acton Town Hall in London in 2002. It was first released in 2012 as a Record Store Day exclusive – a vinyl double LP in a limited number of 2,200 copies. The live album was also made available as part of a 57 song digital download-only collection titled Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros: The Hellcat Years.
The show had been recorded directly off the mixing desk by fans who, with foreknowledge of Mick Jones' plans to attend, anticipated some kind of onstage reunion of the former Clash songwriting partners.
Shit Robot, AKA Marcus Lambkin, is an Irish electronic musician and DJ. While working as a DJ in New York in 2000 he befriended James Murphy, later of LCD Soundsystem, and started a DJ partnership with him. In 2004 he started producing his own music, with a number of releases on DFA Records from 2006 until today.
"Sinnerman" is an accepted African American traditional spiritual song and dates back to the turn of the 20th century. It was recorded in the 1950s by Les Baxter, the Swan Silvertones, the Weavers and others, before Nina Simone recorded an extended version in 1965. This version is a remixed version from 2002
