Happy 76th birthday to John Cale today! Cale fired/quit The Velvet Underground in 1968, and has released 16 studio albums, as well as an abundant amount of soundtracks, live recordings, etc. Cale was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Velvet Underground in 1996.

Happy 52nd birthday to Fugazi drummer, Brendan Canty! In addition to his work with Fugazi, Canty has scored music for National Geographic, and made films for Jeff Tweedy, Bob Mould, and Eddie Vedder.
Nirvana's song "Come As You Are" features a similar guitar riff to Killing Joke's "Eighties". There was never an official copyright lawsuit that was taken to court, but the song's similarities did cause for some conflicts between the two bands.
