The Levee Walkers are a Supergroup consisting of Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Duff McKagan of Guns & Roses, and Barrett Martin of The Screaming Trees. In 2014, the three would unite to play as Mad Season for one historic show with Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell on vocals and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra providing the majestic soundtrack to the hallowed songs of Mad Season. Finally in 2015, after 25 years of slow and deliberate evolution, the three have merged to form the Levee Walkers. Their first two songs feature Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke on vocals.

"We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service" was recorded at the AbLab, the New Jersey home studio of group member Q-Tip. The recording featured guest appearances from André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Jack White, Elton John, Kanye West, Anderson Paak, Talib Kweli, Consequence, and Busta Rhymes. It was the final recorded appearance of group member Phife Dawg, who died in March 2016 from complications with diabetes.

On this day in 1981 Blondie released 'the Tide Is High' as their lead single for their album "Autoamerican". The 1966 song written by John Holt, originally produced by Duke Reid and performed by the Jamaican group The Paragons, with Holt as lead singer. It didn't gain international attention until Blondie released their version that became a #1 single in both the US and UK

Happy Birthday John Lydon AKA Johnny Rotten former frontman of The Sex Pistols and Pubic Image Limited. Lydon's rebellious image and fashion style led to his being asked to become the singer of the Sex Pistols by their manager, Malcolm McLaren. With the Sex Pistols, he penned singles including "Anarchy in the U.K.," "God Save the Queen," and "Holidays in the Sun," the content of which precipitated what one commentator described as the "last and greatest outbreak of pop-based moral pandemonium" in Britain. The band caused a nationwide uproar in much of the media, and Lydon was seen as a figurehead of the burgeoning punk movement. Despite their controversial lyrics and style at the time, they are now regarded as one of the most influential acts in the history of popular music.
In 1978, Lydon formed the post-punk outfit Public Image Limited (PiL). The first lineup of the band included bassist Jah Wobble and former Clash guitarist Keith Levene. They released the albums Public Image (also known as First Issue), Metal Box and Paris in the Spring (live). Wobble then left and Lydon and Levene made The Flowers of Romance. Then came This Is What You Want ... This Is What You Get featuring Martin Atkins on drums (he had also appeared on Metal Box and The Flowers of Romance); it featured their biggest hit, "This Is Not a Love song", which hit No. 5 in 1983. n 1987 a new lineup was formed consisting of Lydon, former Magazine, Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Armoury Show guitarist John McGeoch, Allan Dias on bass guitar in addition to drummer Bruce Smith and Lu Edmunds.
