"Wide Awake!" was first announced in February 2018, while the album was recorded in December 2017 to January 2018. The band recruited Danger Mouse to produce the album, as the band claimed, as a way to push themselves outside of their comfort zone. On recruiting Danger Mouse for the album, Andrew Savage said, "I personally liked the fact that I was writing a record that indebted to punk and funk, and Brian’s a pop producer who’s made some very polished records. I liked that it didn’t make sense."

Martha are a rock band from Pity Me, a village in County Durham in the North East of England. After singles on their own Discount Horse label and Odd Box Records, their debut album Courting Strong, was released on Fortuna Pop! and Salinas Records in 2014. As of 2019 they have released three full length albums on cult UK and US based independent record labels.

"Radio City" is the second album by the American rock group Big Star. Released in 1974, Radio City was recorded during 1973 at Memphis' Ardent Studios. Though not a commercial success at the time, it is now recognized as a milestone album in the history of power pop music. Critically acclaimed upon its release, the record sold poorly, partly due to a lack of promotion and the distribution problems of the band's struggling record label, Ardent Records. The album included "September Gurls" and "Back of a Car", which remain among the most famous Big Star songs

"Pleased to Meet Me" is the only album recorded by the band as a trio. After their previous album "Tim", guitarist Bob Stinson either was kicked out of the band (ostensibly for problems with drugs and alcohol, though most of the other Replacements also had serious substance abuse problems at the time) or quit on his own volition due to creative differences. The band recorded the demos for this album in August 1986, while Bob Stinson was still in the band; however he only showed up for one recording session.
The main recording sessions for the album took place at Ardent Studios in Memphis between November 1986 and January 1987, under the supervision of producer Jim Dickinson.

"Hootenanny" is often regarded as the first release on which The Replacements began to branch out from the "breakneck punk" that characterized their earlier work, through the incorporation of various genres such as blues, country, rockabilly, and boogie. The opening track "Hootenanny" features a rearranged lineup of Chris Mars on lead guitar, Tommy Stinson on rhythm guitar, Bob Stinson on bass guitar, and Paul Westerberg on drums and vocals, while "Within Your Reach" features Westerberg on all instruments and vocals.[2] The lyrics for the song "Lovelines" were largely taken verbatim from the classifieds section of an issue of City Pages, a Minneapolis newspaper.

On September 27th, Rhino Records released a new Replacements box set called Dead Man’s Pop, which includes a remixed version of their album, Don’t Tell a Soul, in the way the band always intended. It also includes a double live album called Inconcerated Live, and a disc of rarities that include a one-off session with Tom Waits. .

Dead Man's Pop includes a remix of the band's 1989 album, Don't Tell a Soul known as Don't Tell a Soul Redux, mixed by the album's original producer, Matt Wallace. Also included is a disc of rarities and unreleased tracks called We Know the Night: Rare and Unreleased which contains early versions of songs from the Don't Tell a Soul album and songs recorded with singer Tom Waits.

Matt Wallace is an American record producer. He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, and has been producing professionally since the early 1980s. He is best known for his work with David Baerwald, Faith No More, Maroon 5, O.A.R., The Replacements, and Train.
Don't Tell a Soul was the first Replacements album featuring Bob "Slim" Dunlap, who replaced founding guitarist Bob Stinson in early 1987. The album was recorded at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles and produced by Matt Wallace and the band. It was mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, who decided to give the record "a three-dimensional, radio-ready sound". However, singer and guitarist Paul Westerberg was not satisfied with the new direction, commenting: "I thought the little things I'd cut in my basement were closer to what I wanted."
On the Dead Man’s Pop box set, there are 60 songs, 58 of which were unheard, unreleased recordings dug up by Slim Dunlap’s wife, Chrissy, and identified by archivist Bob Mehr. Bob and Kevin speak about a lost session the band recorded with Tom Waits that was discovered as part of that collection

"I Will Dare" is a song by American alternative rock band The Replacements, written by Paul Westerberg. The song was released as a single on independent record label Twin/Tone Records in July 1984, shortly before the release of the band's album Let It Be that October, on which the song served as the opening track. The song has been included in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

was formed by housemates Taylor, Wilson, and Martens in 2016 Mullumbimby, Australia.The three wrote, recorded, and released their first EP, Giddy Up, in a span of 12 hours. They take their name from the Australian slang for amyl nitrite, also known as poppers. Amy Taylor compared their music to the drug in an interview with Paul Glynn of the BBC: "In Australia we call poppers Amyl. So you sniff it, it lasts for 30 seconds and then you have a headache – and that's what we're like!". Their sound has been compared to 1970s hard rock groups such as Iggy Pop and The Stooges and The Damned. However, Taylor has cited a number of varying influences including Minor Threat, Ceremony, AC/DC, Sleaford Mods, Dolly Parton, and Cardi B.
Sheer Mag is an American rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, formed in 2014. A combination of 1970s rock and punk ethos, the band continued to gather attention, releasing three 7-inch EPs before March 2016. In January 2015, Rolling Stone featured the band as one of "10 New Artists You Need To Know", describing them as "a gang of punks with a not-so-secret love of Seventies classic rock."

"Norway" is a song by dream pop band Beach House, from their third studio album, Teen Dream. "Norway" received very positive reviews from contemporary music critics. The song was chosen upon release as Pitchfork Media's "Best New Track". Aaron Leitko stated that, "'Norway', the lead track from Teen Dream, the duo's Sub Pop debut, raises the temperature a few degrees. A percussive intro yields to an explosion of twinkling guitars and a chorus of woozy backing vocals.
The fourth album from Lower Dens, The Competition is a pop album with a concept both emotionally and politically urgent, dealing with modern capitalism and its psychotic effects. Its 11 songs range in scope from the personal to the political, but overall express an epiphany: you need radical and unquestioning compassion for yourself if you’re to reimagine what society could be.

Lead singer Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir said that while writing FEVER DREAM she had grown "really tired" of writing songs on an acoustic guitar as it "brought out things in [me] that were predictable", so she began working on a laptop at home, "figuring out all these new sounds and being curious about them".

The Practice of Love is the seventh studio album by Norwegian musician Jenny Hval, released 13 September 2019 on Sacred Bones Records.The album was produced by Hval, with co-production by Lasse Marhaug and features guest vocals from Vivian Wang, formerly of the psych rock band The Observatory, Australian singer-songwriter Laura Jean, and French experimental musician Félicia Atkinson.

"Town Called Malice" is a song recorded by British band the Jam from the album The Gift. The title is a play on words of the 1950 Nevil Shute novel A Town Like Alice, although Paul Weller says he had not read the book at the time. It was a double A-side single release featuring "Precious" as the flip side. A 12" version was also available with a live version of "Town Called Malice" backed by an extended version of "Precious"

"Sour Times" was released as the second single from Dummy on 1 August 1994. It initially reached only number 57 in the UK Singles Chart, but after the success of "Glory Box" in 1995, it was re-released and peaked at number 13 in April. It is also the band's only song to date to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, at number 53. "Sour Times" was the band's first entry on the Australian ARIA top 100 singles chart, peaking at number 66 in March 1995. The B-side track "Airbus Reconstruction" was actually recorded by the band Airbus, who were former school friends of Geoff Barrow.

"Sure Shot" is a song by hip hop group Beastie Boys, released as the third single from their 1994 album Ill Communication. The single was released a few days after the release of the album, on May 31, 1994. The track features a sample from jazz flautist Jeremy Steig's "Howlin' For Judy", which provides the main instrumental part of the song.
OX4_ The Best of Ride is a compilation album by the British band Ride, released in 2001 by Ignition Records in the United Kingdom. The album was also released as the first disc in the three-disc Ride Box Set, which also included Firing Blanks_ Unreleased Ride Recordings 1988-95 and Live at Reading Festival 1992. The American edition was released by The First Time Records in 2002 and included a second disc with four of the unreleased tracks from Firing Blanks. The title is a reference to the band's local Oxford postcode in their teenage years.
