Working Class Woman is the Montreal-based producer’s fourth album and her most self-reflective record: it’s a document of her state of mind, a reflection of a year she spent living in Berlin, and a comment on the stresses and strains of operating within the spheres of dance music and club culture.
The song originates from a dance called "the Rock" that local kids were doing at the time in Minneapolis. Prince responded quickly with a track called "Let's Rock", and wished to quickly release it as a single. Warner Bros. refused, and a disappointed Prince did not include the song on Controversy, saying the phase had passed. Instead, the song was updated with new lyrics and possibly new music and became "Let's Work"—one of his most popular dance numbers to date.

Cheryl has great taste! Of course, we already knew that, but there's something spectacular about Will Toledo, the mastermind behind Car Seat Headrest. In the age of Bandcamp, “prolific” has almost become a genre in and of itself. Car Seat Headrest deserves that title.

Hailing from the Emerald City, Cumulus is the musical project of Alexandra Niedzialkowski, who together with band members William Cremin (Keys, Guitar and Vocals), Sébastien Deramat (Guitar), Stanley Kim (Bass), and Tom Fitzgibbon (Drums), crafts a dynamic and infectious indie pop sound.
Irish artist Aoife McCann began her art-pop project Æ MAK in 2016 to much acclaim, landing touring spots with Django Django, Warpaint, and tUnE-yArDs, and then performing at KEXP's Iceland Airwaves Music Festival broadcast last year from Kex Hostel.
“Luminous Spaces” was originally planned as an Owens remix of Hopkins’ song “Luminous Beings,” from his 2018 album Singularity. “I sent her the parts, but what she sent back just felt like something totally new, and had the potential to be so much more than a remix,” Hopkins said in a statement.

Geezer Butler (bassist) explained his intentions to Classic Albums:
"I wanted to write a song called 'Walpurgis' – the Satanic version of Christmas – write that Satan isn't a spiritual thing, it's warmongers. That's who the real Satanists are, all these people who are running the banks and the world and trying to get the working class to fight the wars for them. We sent it off to the record company, and they said, 'No, we're not going to call it that. Too Satanic!' So I changed it to 'War Pigs.'"
On the new release, the guys attempt to capture their live sound. In a press release, they state:
In an age where rock records are often built on a computerized grid, Russian Circles chose to track the foundations of the songs together in one room as complete takes without click tracks. The human pulse and unmetered energy is woven throughout Blood Year, a presence that can be felt with each bone-rattling minute.
Bassist Peter Hook and guitarist Bernard Sumner swapped instruments when writing and recording the track; according to Hook, they "were bored writing on our instruments so we just thought let's swap. Barney played bass and I played guitar. I was nowhere as proficient a guitarist as him, mind you, but I liked the way it sounds. Great riff, great bass too."
Its vocal contains samples from a 1974 sermon by Reverend W. Leo Daniels called "The Answer to Watergate". Daniels, the then-pastor of the Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church of Houston, Texas, had eleven albums released by Jewel Records on its "Jewel Devotional Series".

Originally a James Brown tribute act, Bradley's individual talent wouldn't remain hidden for long. Gabe Roth, head of retro-soul label Daptone, chanced upon Bradley's James Brown tribute act and came away convinced that he'd stumbled across the real deal: a vocalist made of the same stuff as the man he man he was imitating.
This track was written in 1979 on an aeroplane while The Wailers were experimenting on guitar.
In the middle of the song, background singers quote a verse from Bob Marley's first single "Judge Not": "The road of life is rocky; And you may stumble too. So while you point your fingers, someone else is judging you".
Dan Snaith (aka Caribou) stated, "The thing that had a big effect on the sound, one that I didn’t anticipate or understand until after it was finished, was that I had a daughter. She’s three years old now, and during the whole time that I was making this record, I would spend lots of time going into the little studio in my basement, recording for a couple of hours, then taking care of my daughter, then listening to a lot of old music with her. As a new father, you play all the things you want somebody to hear first when they’re a human being."
