The second full-length album from Brimheim – the alias of Malmö, Sweden-based Danish-Faroese artist Helena Heinesen Rebensdorff – is a revelatory set of arty, emotional, expansive alt-pop that consistently packs a gritty, grungy punch, yet also delivers delicate, crystalline, and deceptively groovy moments. Cohesively held together by her stunning, soaring vocals, RATKING is a cathartic record that she wrote “as a way to understand the intense emotional pain of my youth,” ultimately finding liberation in her own self-worth. www.kexp.org brimheim.bandcamp.com

KEXP's Chris Sanley reviewed this release, sharing, "The debut album from Luxembourg-based Jana Bahrich – aka Francis of Delirium – is an absolute knockout. Lighthouse is jam-packed with big, sweeping swells of sound achieved by excellent guitar licks, infectious hooks, emotional lyricism, orchestral flourishes and a confident, powerful vocal performance. "Her strong songwriting and distinct indie-rock sound with a pop sensibility hits all of the right marks on one hell of a debut." Read more: tinyurl.com www.francisofdelirium.com

They have written an album that is simply marvelous." www.whitelight-whiteheat.com -- Go right here to purchase "The Spin Out": newagehealers.bandcamp.com -- This Seattle band (led by KEXP's own Owen Murphy) will be playing at Chop Suey on Wednesday, July 3rd with MOAA and Blushing and then 4-Star Theater in San Fransisco with Nyte Skye (Nyles from Film School) and Pure Hex on Friday, July 26th.

Released on this day in 1999. And in addition to all the feels, this might also give you another reason to listen to this album all the way through... Starálfur is so overwhelmingly pretty that in 2012, a deaf man who successfully tried new hearing aids asked Reddit, “I can hear music for the first time ever, what should I listen to?” and he quickly listed “Starálfur” as one of his favorites, just a day after discovering music et al. www.pastemagazine.com

This PNW local hip hop record was released on this day in 2007! An American hip hop duo based in Seattle, Washington, created in 2002 Blue Scholars formed while the members, DJ Sabzi (Saba Mohajerjasbi) and MC Geologic (George Quibuyen), were students at University of Washington. The name "Blue Scholars" is a play on the term "blue collar," an idiom for workers who often earn hourly wages for manual labor. Their music and lyrics frequently focused on struggles between socioeconomic classes, challenging authority and youth empowerment.: seattle.fandom.com

"The original Traffic had two phases. The first , a winsomely psychedelic pop band that blending blues, folk, rock, and R&B, fronted by Steve Winwood - best-known for his lead vocals with the Spencer Davis Group - and Dave Mason. After Mason, the band became Winwood's vehicle for longer, moodier excursions that leaning into to jazz and soul. Traffic was exceedingly popular in both incarnations. With such hits as Paper Sun, Dear Mr Fantasy, Feelin' Alright, Pearly Queen among many others, they left a lasting legacy of music. " www.liveatthefalcon.com
