Nils Bernstein - Sub Pop’s publicist from 1991-1997, former music publicist, Sub Pop, Matador...
Nils Bernstein, a journalist and music industry insider, recognized Susie Tennant’s immense impact. He penned an article about her, highlighting her role in shaping Seattle’s music scene and her tireless efforts to promote artists. Nils acknowledged Susie’s magnetic enthusiasm, which helped put Nirvana’s iconic album “Nevermind” (and by extension, Seattle) on the map. Beyond that, Susie championed the city’s all-ages music scene and built strong relationships among her peers and colleagues, creating sturdy foundations in an otherwise challenging industry. Her influence extended beyond music, as she also used her platform to organize vital social movements, such as the Music for Marriage Equality campaign. Nils Bernstein aptly described her as a “happy warrior.

Mark Kates - Geffen/DGC boss/peer (current: Atwater Village Music/Fenway Recordings).
Mark Kates, who was the head of alternative promotion at DGC/Geffen Records (now an artist manager at Fenway Recordings), played a crucial role in Nirvana’s major-label career. Alongside the band and DGC, he worked tirelessly to launch Nirvana while maintaining their credibility with early fans and attracting new ones. The challenge was to navigate the tribal differences within the rock audience, ensuring that Nirvana’s success resonated with both devoted fans and a broader audience. Mark Kates contributed to shaping the band’s trajectory during this pivotal time.

"Unsung heroes of the Seattle rock community, the Young Fresh Fellows were one of the first independent bands from the rainy city to earn a nationwide reputation in the 1980s, gaining an enthusiastic cult following and the approval of critics... Originally comprised of vocalist/bassist Scott McCaughey, guitarist Chuck Carroll, and drummer Tad Hutchison, the Young Fresh Fellows were formed in 1982 and debuted in 1984 with The Fabulous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest..."

From The Replacements' fourth album, 'Tim'.
Singer-guitarist Paul Westerberg once cited Tim's stylistic bookends to describe both the longevity of the Replacements' influence and their lack of mainstream success. "My style is ultimately both kinds of things," he said. "Sometimes you just love the little acoustic songs, and other times you want to crank the goddamn amp up, and those two parts of me are forever entwined." That cognitive dissonance – the Stonesesque swagger of "Bastards of Young," the unpolished reflection in "Swingin Party" — became a crucial template for grunge, alternative country and, recently, the noisy introspection of emo.

A friend of Susie Tennant says this about this unreleased song by Chris Ballew.
"We chose it because it really captured the spirit of the day. Which was a gathering of Susie’s friends and possibly one of the last times she would be seen in public."
Chris Ballew says this about the track, "To me, the song is about making a conscious choice to allow chaos and pain to be part of your experience but to also detach an observe it and float above it in order to process and learn from it."

Born in Missouri, McDonald moved to Los Angeles in 1970 with his band Blue, worked with Steely Dan from 1975-76, and then joined the Doobie Brothers in 1975, quickly giving the band two big hits — "Takin' It to the Streets" and "It Keeps You Runnin'." Ironically, McDonald was participating in the Doobie Brothers' Farewell Tour when If That's What It Takes arrived on store shelves. The group later reunited without him, but McDonald remained close with his former bandmates.

This song marks Justice's first new music in almost eight years. -- Justice said, “We wanted this track to sound as if a dark/techno iteration of Justice had found a sample of a disco iteration of Kevin Parker. Kevin has a sense of melody that’s fascinating in the sense that he manages to write melodies that feel both simple and natural, but very peculiar at the same time.": www.spin.com
