Debut album from the Brooklyn arist. Via Bandcamp "Ela Minus’ debut album is a collection about the personal as political and embracing the beauty of tiny acts of revolution in our everyday lives. Throughout, a sense of urgency and a call to arms is mixed with this love and appreciation for reality—because even revolutionaries need to leave space for simple human interaction." elaminus.bandcamp.com

The Black Country New Road is a major road running through the West Midlands of England, first planned in 1980 to relieve congestion on the M5; it was first opened in 1995, and completed in 1997. The band taking its name from that road formed in London in 2018! Their bassist Tyler Hyde is the daughter of Underworld's Karl Hyde. blackcountrynewroad.bandcamp.com. “We wanted it to sound exactly how we love to sound live,” saxophonist Lewis Evans said of the album in a statement. Frontman Isaac Wood added: “This is basically representative of our first 18 months. We see this as being a stop in the road. I’ve always been interested in a really honest portrayal of what a band is and what they’ve been working on. I think it’s really nice if people can see an artist like: This was them in the early days, this was their next phase, and that they’re quite clear and honest about genuine progression as people and musicians.”

With Jacob Collier on back up vocals, this track is expected on SZA's upcoming and long-awaited second studio album. During an interview, the singer also expressed a sense of overall peace with her slow-moving creative process, saying, "Sometimes you just want to make something f**king awful just to rage against the system, but that’s not where I’m at. In this space, I just want to do what I want without any pressure, without any hyper-conversation about it.": www.nylon.com

Via their Facebook page: Ora The Molecule is the musical moniker of Norwegian-born avant-pop artist Nora Schjelderup. For Schjelderup, life has always been about observation and finding one's purpose in the community at large. She is the molecule personified: the smallest bit of matter that retains its own identity while being part of something greater. This keen sense of inspection and willingness to surrender to feelings of wide-eyed wonder guided Schjelderup from her childhood to the release of her debut album, Human Safari. This Seattle artist’s latest album is a strong set of mostly covers (along with two originals). This track covers Leonard Cohen, who told Allan Showalter that the song was inspired by the Holocaust: "...[it] came from just hearing or reading or knowing that in the death camps, beside the crematoria, in certain of the death camps, a string quarte[ was pressed into performance while this horror was going on, those were the people whose fate was this horror also.... So, that music, 'Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin,' meaning the beauty thereof being the consummation of life, the end of this existence and of the passionate element in that consummation." -- tinyurl.com

Israel Nash is gearing up to release 'Topaz' on March 12th. Nash recorded the candid, textured album at Plum Creek Sound, his studio assembled from an old quonset hut near his home in the Texas Hill Country. 'Topaz' marks the first album Nash has recorded mostly on his own, both taking his time and relishing his newfound access to immediacy, punching the red button moments after an idea hit. “It’s allowed me to capture sounds and ideas, to really get stuff out of my head and into the world so quickly,” Nash says.: americansongwriter.com israelnash.bandcamp.com

This was a Record Store Day exclusive recently. Arriving on the heels of the socially conscious Babylon, Dr. John's 1970 album Remedies marked his 3rd studio release under his eccentric, voodoo-inspired "Night Tripper"persona, and his first not to be produced by Harold Bapttiste--he instead turned to famed rock producer Tom Dowd. Featuring a psychedelic and progressive take on Dr. John's signature style of swampy, hazy New Orleans boogie-woogie rock, undoubtedly inspired by his then recent stint in apsych ward.

This track features surprise guests: soul singer Sananda Maitreya (formerly Terence Trent D'Arby) and English folk singer, Vashti Bunyan. Bunyan appears only as a sample from her 1970 track, "Glow Worms"; Read a fascinating interview on how and why Terence Trent D'Arby became Sananda Maitreya: "“People ask: ‘Why did you change your name?’ When you have a psyche that’s no longer functional, you petition another psyche. You either die – you kill yourself – or you think: ‘No, I’ve got more to do.’" -- tinyurl.com

Via Stereogum: The band recorded Life In Your Glass World literally at home in Toledo. Frontman Mat Kerekes built a studio in his garage, and that’s where the band made the entire album. In a press release, guitarist Nick Hamm says, “This is the first self-sufficient Citizen record. There was no pressure at all and moving at our own pace allowed the songs to be a little more fleshed out.” The new album will be out March 26th.
