'The Race for Space' is Public Broadcasting Service's second studio album that works with sound samples from the British Film Institute in order to revive the story of the American and Soviet space race from 1957-1972. The opening track features the speech by John F. Kennedy on September 12, 1962 at Rice University. To launch the album's release in 2015, the group did a two day gig at the National Space Centre in Leicester.
Raphaelle Standell-Preston of Braids and Alex "Agor" Cowan form the Montreal electronic duo of Blue Hawaii. Written after Raphaelle and Agor had spent a year apart, 'Untogether' involved each member alternating nights, writing from 10am to 5pm alone creating a sense of alientation according to Interview magazine, which ultimately shaped record as a whole. Bat for Lashes recently dropped her new concept album, 'The Bride' which follows the story of a woman, whose fiancé dies in a car crash on the way to their wedding. The album follows her as she decides to go on the honeymoon alone and her emotions as she deals with the tragedy.
Port O' Brien were named after a bay in Alaska featuring a now-abandoned cannery on Kodiak Island where founder member Van Pierszalowski's parents met. They began as a folk duo then added a rhythm section as they released three records from 2007 to 2009.
Seattle-born/LA-based artist Amy Blaschke released her sixth album 'Breaking the Blues' in 2003.
Stockholm's The Concretes began with Victoria Bergsman, Maria Eriksson, and Lisa Milberg then swelled into a group of eight. They released their self-titled album in 2004.
Freetown Sound is the third album by Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange which dropped by surprise on June 28th of this year. Freetown Sound is named after Freetown, Sierra Leone, where Hynes' father was born. The album features Carly Rae Jepsen, Zuri Marley, Debbie Harry, Nelly Furtado, writer Ta-Nehisi Coates, slam poet Ashlee Haze, and others.
Margaret Glaspy dropped her debut, 'Emotions and Math' this past June on ATO. According to her bio, she details her musical experience, “I went to Berklee College of Music in Boston for a semester and paid for it with money I got from the YoungArts Program.” She continues, “I wasn’t able to afford school after that semester, so I snuck into workshops and master classes at the school and started to write songs more seriously.”
Cold Specks is the stage name of singer-songwriter Ladan Hussein. The name Cold Specks is taken from a line in James Joyce's Ulysses ("Born all in the dark wormy earth, cold specks of fire, evil, lights shining in the darkness.")
Catherine "Kate" Bush, CBE is an English singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. Hounds of Love was released in 1985. Due to the high cost of hiring studio space for her previous album, she built a private studio near her home, where she could work at her own pace. Feeling like a sleepyhead this Monday morning? Understandable, according to Passion Pit. This track also contains some notable poets including samples of "Óró Mo Bháidín" by Mary O'Hara and "San Francisco Scene (The Beat Generation)" by Jack Kerouac. ("and everything is going to the beat.")
Clams casino is a clam "on the halfshell" dish with breadcrumbs and bacon. It originated in Rhode Island is often served as an appetizer in New England. It's also the hip-hop project of Michael Volpe from New Jersey who has also produced tracks for A$AP Rocky, Lil B, and Mac Miller. He just dropped a record of his own on July 15th titled '32 Levels'.

Leonard Cohen met Marianne in the 1960s after her husband left shortly after the birth of their child on the Greek island of Hydra. Marianne passed away on July 29th at age 81 and Cohen penned her this heartbreaking letter: “well Marianne it’s come to this time when we are really so old and our bodies are falling apart and I think I will follow you very soon. Know that I am so close behind you that if you stretch out your hand, I think you can reach mine.
“And you know that I’ve always loved you for your beauty and your wisdom, but I don’t need to say anything more about that because you know all about that. But now, I just want to wish you a very good journey. Goodbye old friend. Endless love, see you down the road.”

Hail to the Thief is the sixth studio album of Radiohead in 2003. Thom Yorke is quoted to say this record reflects the "frustration and powerlessness and anger, and the huge gap between the people that put themselves in control and the people that allegedly voted for them."
