so where did the band's name come from? It comes from the DH Lawrence quote: "People in LA are content to do nothing and stare at the void pacific."
If you're a comic book fan (like I am) you know that Love and Rockets took their name from the classic comic book series of the same name. L&R (as it was affectionately called) was one of the first comic books in the alternative comics movement of the 1980s helping to pave the way for the graphic novels that we love today.

Goat claims to hail from Korpilombolo in Sweden which, according to the band's own publicity, has a history of voodoo worship after a witch doctor came and lived there. Supposedly, when Christian crusaders came and destroyed the village the surviving people fled and placed a curse on the town. This has been described as "a lovely story, if possibly not entirely rooted in reality. So there's that...

Due to an ink splodge on the back of the original artwork, the song "Silence Kid" has become erroneously known as "Silence Kit". This misnomer persisted when designer Mark Ohe printed it onto the back of the reissue Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: LA's Desert Origins, despite the interior artwork showing the correct name in print several times, including written in Stephen Malkmus' own handwriting

"1979" almost didn't make it on the album, let alone as a recorded song. During the recording of this album, the song wasn't finished and producer Flood said that it wasn't good enuff to make the album. This inspired Billy Corgan to finish the song in 4 hours and when he played it for Flood the following day, he said "winner winner chicken dinner!"...well, maybe that's not an exact quote, but you get the idea
