The song integrates a 1970 recording called "Modern Dynamic Physical Fitness Activities" by Ed Durlacher, who was best known as a square dance caller. In his recording, he goes through some basic calisthenics, but Beastie Boys chopped it up to make it sound like dance instruction ("you will do this four times with the left... four with the right"). -- "Body Movin'" also sampled Graham Central Station's 1975 "The Jam", as well as "Oye Como Va" by Amral's Trinidad Cavaliers. --- beastieboys.com

Recorded in Burbank, California, Paris and London, the album was produced by Gil Norton, and was Pixies' final studio effort before their subsequent break-up two years later. Trompe le Monde is the last album to feature founding bass guitarist Kim Deal. The album name comes from the title of the first track, "Trompe le Monde", a French phrase meaning "Fool the World." Unlike previous albums, the title of the album comes from the name of a song (rather than a song lyric), and is a play on the French phrase "Trompe-l'œil"—a painting technique in which the painter fools the viewer into thinking objects presented are real. bit.ly

Beloved, Portland trio Gossip returns with Real Power, their first album in FOURTEEN YEARS! The album marks a reunion with acclaimed producer Rick Rubin, who helmed the band’s pivotal 2009 album Music For Men. Rubin coaxed the band started recording in 2019 after completing a tour for the ten-year anniversary of Music For Men. Recorded at Rubin’s home studio in Kauai, the process was temporarily halted by the pandemic and resumed when restrictions lifted. The result is an 11-track celebration of the galvanizing might of music, the joy of creative expression, and the power of chosen family in the aftermath of collective and personal trauma. "When we began, so much about Gossip was about running away—that was always in the music," says Ditto. "We survived. We came from nothing, and we got the fuck out of there. And to be here 20 years later and still making music together is just incredible." tinyurl.com

I might get your song played on the radio station --- This song, with its emphasis on Black pride and resilience, is the lead single of Beyonce's sixth studio album, 2016's "Lemonade." -- According to Rolling Stone, Beyoncé’s “Formation” is the best music video of all time. According to director Melina Matsoukas, Queen Bey wanted the video to show the “historical impact of slavery on black love, and what it has done to the black family.” “I wanted to show — this is black people. We triumph, we suffer, we’re drowning, we’re being beaten, we’re dancing, we’re eating, and we’re still here,” Matsoukas added while discussing the “Formation” video.: www.youtube.com --- www.beyonce.com

Shout Out Mandy! --- The Faroe Islands' Helena Rebensdorff, aka Brimheim, confides, "Throughout my life, I've behaved in a lot of self destructive ways, attempting to fill this deep, barren void inside of me with everything from drugs to self-harm. But more than anything else, I’ve had to reckon with an unquenchable desire for other people’s approval and adoration, both as a human being and as an artist. New second record from this French/Moroccan group from Marrakech. The popular street music known as Chaabi, in which the word 'swaken' means to visit another dimension, as well as the space in which two dimensions overlap." bablbluz.bandcamp.com

When this was first released, many people thought The Cure had ripped off the sound of New Order's mega-hit "Blue Monday." Though many fingers were pointed at The Cure, no legal actions were ever taken because "The Walk" was written and recorded before (but released after) "Blue Monday." The likeness between the two was proven to be nothing more than coincidence, as both bands were experimenting with electronic instruments, sequencers and drum machines, leading them to arrive at similar sounds around the same timeframe. The Cure had lost their bass player Simon Gallup and were in limbo when the remaining two members, Robert Smith and Lol Tolhurst, got together to compose this song in late 1982. Tolhurst came up with the distinctive vibrato keyboard riff, and Smith took it from there. The song became their biggest UK hit to this point, going to #12 and revitalizing the band. tinyurl.com

The 1st single off the French duo's 3rd album of 2004. They reached international success with their release of "Sexy Boy" from their first album "Moon Safari" in 1998. -- The 7" and CD single releases include an alternate version of the song that features Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star on vocals. Dunckel recalled: "We'd seen Mazzy Star play in France, and the experience was just so slow and beautiful. We were quite moved by the show, and inspired to write the slowest Air song ever, so we wrote 'Cherry Blossom Girl' with her in mind, and she was kind enough to sing it for us. It didn't work for the album, since it ended up just being JB and I on the record, but that version is very special to me." bit.ly www.airfrenchband.com

"Moonlight Mile" came together during a loose session held at Jagger's Stargroves estate in the fall of 1970. Appropriately, recording didn't begin until after midnight, at which point Jagger says guitarist Keith Richards had already gone home, and bassist Bill Wyman wasn't present, leaving him to flesh out the arrangement with guitarist Mick Taylor and drummer Charlie Watts. "What makes 'Moonlight Mile' special is that it’s a song and a recording at once," mused Jagger. "All these things — the strange plinking piano, the tom-tommy mallets on the drums, the different guitars — they all came together to produce a feeling of vulnerability and loneliness, you know what I mean? I think the three of us finished recording the basic track around 6AM. The sun was coming up."

Not in some sort of utopian aesthetic where everything works perfectly, but in the natural flow and state of things,” shares the band’s Jim Rindfleish. “It’s about cosmic compatibility and chemistry: what makes things work? Not just what makes the band work, but what makes good music, art or love? It’s the rhythm of nature”. mildlife.bandcamp.com
